AI‐Enabled Imaging for Pathogen Detection Under Stress Conditions: A Systematic Review

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Advances in pathogen detection that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) may capture microbial signals under challenging environmental conditions that traditional methods miss. This systematic review evaluates the application, performance, and methodological characteristics of AI‐enabled imaging for pathogen detection, including its impact

Interaction of Pseudomonas and Enterobacteriaceae plasmids in Aeromonas salmonicida [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1976
We observed that Aeromonas salmonicida ARO200 will maintain either or both the Pseudomonas R-factor, pMG1, and Enterobacteriaceae R-factors. This bacterial strain, therefore, provides a unique background wherein the host ranges of Pseudomonas and Enterobacteriaceae plasmods overlap.

Comparative genomics profiling of clinical isolates of Aeromonas salmonicida using DNA microarrays

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2006
Background Aeromonas salmonicida has been isolated from numerous fish species and shows wide variation in virulence and pathogenicity. As part of a larger research program to identify virulence genes and candidates for vaccine development, a DNA ...

First Description and Characterisation of Lactococcus garvieae Strains Causing Septicaemic Disease in Farmed Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax; Linnaeus) in Spain

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents the first description and characterisation of Lactococcus garvieae isolated from diseased European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) farmed in Spain. During autumn 2023, two fish farms were affected by infectious outbreaks causing moderate cumulative fish mortality (5%–10%). Diseased fish showed clinical signs of haemorrhagic

Structural and immunochemical homogeneity of Aeromonas salmonicida lipopolysaccharide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1984
Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was used to analyze the lipopolysaccharides of typical and atypical strains of the fish pathogen Aeromonas salmonicida. 32P intrinsically radiolabeled lipopolysaccharide in sarcosinate-extracted outer membrane preparations, lipopolysaccharide stained by silver in proteinase K-digested outer ...

Assessing the Apparent Prevalence, Pathology and Molecular Detection of Aphanomyces invadans in Native Fish Species of the Sylhet Region, Bangladesh

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The primary objective of this study was to investigate the presence of Aphanomyces invadans and its association with Aeromonas hydrophila in naturally infected fish from two wetlands (beels) in the Sylhet, Bangladesh. Over a 6‐month period (October 2020 to March 2021), a total of 396 fish were examined from Singari beel, of which 90 were found

Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) From Biofloc Systems Enhances the Growth and Immune Performance of Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study characterised polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB)‐producing bacteria from the culture water of genetically improved farmed tilapia (GIFT) in biofloc ponds and investigated the influence of PHB on the growth and immune performance of GIFT. Out of 40 bacterial isolates, Bacillus infantis, Exiguobacterium profundum, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus ...

Expansion of the tetracycline resistome in Aeromonas salmonicida with a tet(D) gene found in plasmids pAsa-2900 and pAsa-2900b

open access: yesFrontiers in Bacteriology
Plasmids carrying antibiotic resistance genes occur frequently in Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida, an aquatic pathogen. In this study, we describe three new plasmids found in strains of A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida from Québec, Canada: pAsa-

Investigation of Recombinantly Produced Endolysins Reveals a Modular Enzyme Shared by Several Enterobacteria Phages to Exhibit Broad‐Range Lytic Activity Against Different Orders of Gammaproteobacteria

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
The recombinant endolysin El1 derived from Enterobacteria bacteriophages showed potent bactericidal activity against Gram‐negative bacteria when applied exogenously, even in the absence of membrane‐permeabilizing agents, such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA).
