Potential of Eugenia brejoensis (Mazine) Essential Oil in Combating Multidrug‐Resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The genus Eugenia has a long history of use in traditional medicine for treating various conditions, including infectious diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin problems. Essential oils derived from Eugenia species are known for their medicinal properties and have been studied for their antimicrobial and bioactive potential. This study

Characterizations of some free random variables by properties of conditional moments of third degree polynomials

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate Laha-Lukacs properties of noncommutative random variables (processes). We prove that some families of free Meixner distributions can be characterized by the conditional moments of polynomial functions of degree 3.

Practices for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Western Sciences for Research and Monitoring of Biodiversity in Canada

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our research article addresses ‘if, when and how’ to bring together Indigenous knowledges (IK) and Western sciences (WS) in practice in biodiversity research and monitoring, though a combination of interviews/sharing circles with Indigenous Peoples, a systematic literature search, and then braiding outcomes from each.

On non-round points of the boundary of the numerical range and an application to non-selfadjoint Schr\"odinger operators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We show that non-round boundary points of the numerical range of an unbounded operator (i.e. points where the boundary has infinite curvature) are contained in the spectrum of the operator.

Outcomes of Intravenous Normal Saline Infusion Pre‐Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices Versus No Infusion in Fasting

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 1, January 2026.
Pre‐procedural normal saline infusion significantly reduced venous puncture failure and arterial puncture in 2852 fasting CIED patients, with trends toward lower AKI. Absence of NS, high BMI, and CKD predicted failure, and model performance was strong (AUC 0.81). NS infusion appears to enhance procedural success.

Precision Betacarotene Supplementation Enhanced Ovarian Function and the LH Release Pattern in Yearling Crossbred Anestrous Goats

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
The possible out-of-season effect of beta-carotene supplementation on ovulation rate (OR), antral follicles (AFN), and total ovarian activity (TOA = OR + AFN) as related to the LH release pattern in yearling anestrous goats was evaluated.

Simplifications in Lagrangian BV quantization exemplified by the anomalies of chiral $W_3$ gravity

open access: yes, 1993
The Batalin--Vilkovisky (BV) formalism is a useful framework to study gauge theories. We summarize a simple procedure to find a a gauge--fixed action in this language and a way to obtain one--loop anomalies.

Small‐Scale Village Farmers, Farming Imaginaries and Enrichment Value Creation in Ankara, Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, Volume 26, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT How are we to understand the continuing importance of small‐scale village farming in a country like Turkey, which is undergoing an expanding process of industrialization and commodification in agriculture? There are two sides to this question: One concerns land use reconfiguration for commercial purposes, contraction of small‐scale farmland ...

Pricing and Hedging of SOFR Derivatives

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 180-202, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) has served since the 1970s as a fundamental measure for floating term rates across multiple currencies and maturities. However, in 2017, the Financial Conduct Authority announced the discontinuation of LIBOR from the end of 2021, and the New York Fed declared the Treasury repo financing rate, called ...

Componentwise and Cartesian decompositions of linear relations

open access: yes, 2009
Let $A$ be a, not necessarily closed, linear relation in a Hilbert space $\sH$ with a multivalued part $\mul A$. An operator $B$ in $\sH$ with $\ran B\perp\mul A^{**}$ is said to be an operator part of $A$ when $A=B \hplus (\{0\}\times \mul A)$, where ...
