On the Possibility of Reproducing Utsu’s Law for Earthquakes with a Spring-Block SOC Model

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
The Olami, Feder and Christensen (OFC) spring-block model has proven to be a powerful tool for analyzing and comparing synthetic and real earthquakes. This work proposes the possible reproduction of Utsu’s law for earthquakes in the OFC model.

Spatiotemporal Clustering of Seismicity in the Kiskatinaw Seismic Monitoring and Mitigation Area

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Induced seismicity has become a concern for industry and nearby residents. Fluid-induced earthquakes are a side effect of industrial operations such as hydraulic fracturing, where high-pressure fluids are pumped into the Earth’s crust to increase ...

Complex networks of earthquakes and aftershocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
International audienceWe invoke a metric to quantify the correlation between any two earthquakes. This provides a simple and straightforward alternative to using space-time windows to detect aftershock sequences and obviates the need to distinguish main ...

Perbandingan Energi Gempa Bumi Utama dan Susulan (Studi Kasus : Gempa Subduksi Pulau Sumatera dan Jawa)

open access: yesJurnal Fisika Flux, 2017
Indonesia is located on the third meeting of the active tectonic world plates which are Eurasian Indian - Australia and the Pacific Plate. This condition makes Indonesia as a tectonically active area with seismicity level or pattern of high seismicity ...

Non‐Triggering and Then Triggering of a Repeating Aftershock Sequence in the Dead Sea by the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake Pair: Implications for the Physics of Remote Delayed Aftershocks

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Most aftershocks occur in areas experiencing large co‐seismic stress changes, yet some occur long after the mainshock in remote lightly stressed regions. The triggering mechanism of these remote delayed aftershocks is not well understood.

基于精定位余震序列的2019年四川长宁MS6.0地震等震线研究

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2020

ON PROPER TIME OF THE SOURCE OF A STRONG EARTHQUAKE

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2023
The physics of earthquakes was contriubuted to by the concept of proper time of the source of a strong earthquake, which is different from universal (calendar) time. The earlier idea of proper time was implicit and has been considered only in relation to

A rate-state model for aftershocks triggered by dislocation on a rectangular fault: a review and new insights

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2006
We compute the static displacement, stress, strain and the Coulomb failure stress produced in an elastic medium by a finite size rectangular fault after its dislocation with uniform stress drop but a non uniform dislocation on the source.

Non-Local Seismo-Dynamics: A Fractional Approach

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
This paper consists of a general consideration of a seismic system as a subsystem of another, larger system, exchanging with it by extensive dynamical quantities in a sequential push mode.
