Minced skin grafts for chronic wounds compared to conventional mesh grafts

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Background and Aims Skin grafting is the single most effective method to close a chronic wound. The current standard of care is to use meshed split thickness skin grafts. This entails the use of surgical instruments that need to be autoclaved and to have a power source, which usually requires an OR facility.

Development of a Simple Integrative Carbon Nanomaterial Microextraction Method with GC‐MS for Assessing Pesticide Residues in Apples

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The present study describes an efficient analytical method for analyzing apple pesticide residues. This novel approach employs ultrasound‐assisted cleaning (UAC), solid‐phase microextraction (SPME), and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC‐MS). A fiber coating with carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) was used for the extraction process.

The Amphibian Short‐Term Assay: Evaluation of a New Ecotoxicological Method for Amphibians Using Two Organophosphate Pesticides Commonly Found in Nature—Assessment of Biochemical, Morphological, and Life‐History Traits

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Volume 41, Issue 11, Page 2688-2699, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Amphibia is the most threatened class among vertebrates, with >40% of the species threatened with extinction. Pollution is thought to alter amphibian population dynamics. With the growing interest in behavioral ecotoxicology, the neurotoxic organophosphate pesticides are of special concern.

Capacidad de investigación en obesidad infantil en Latinoamérica y en las poblaciones latinas de Estados Unidos: estado de la investigación, problemas, oportunidades y líneas de trabajo para el futuro

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 22, Issue S5, Octubre 2021., 2021

Thirty‐day suicidal thoughts and behaviors among hospital workers during the first wave of the Spain COVID‐19 outbreak

open access: yesDepression and Anxiety, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page 528-544, May 2021., 2021
Abstract Background Healthcare workers are a key occupational group at risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STB). We investigated the prevalence and correlates of STB among hospital workers during the first wave of the Spain COVID‐19 outbreak (March–July 2020). Methods Data come from the baseline assessment of a cohort of Spanish hospital workers (

Regulatory challenges with biosimilars: an update from 20 countries

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1491, Issue 1, Page 42-59, May 2021., 2021
Abstract The World Health Organization (WHO) issued guidelines for the regulatory evaluation of biosimilars in 2009 and has provided considerable effort toward helping member states implement the evaluation principles in the guidelines into their regulatory practices.

Uncertainty-Based Semantics for Multi-Agent Knowing How Logics [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 335, 2021, pp. 23-37, 2021
We introduce a new semantics for a multi-agent epistemic operator of knowing how, based on an indistinguishability relation between plans. Our proposal is, arguably, closer to the standard presentation of knowing that modalities in classical epistemic logic.

Symmetries in Modal Logics [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 113, 2013, pp. 27-44, 2013
We generalize the notion of symmetries of propositional formulas in conjunctive normal form to modal formulas. Our framework uses the coinductive models and, hence, the results apply to a wide class of modal logics including, for example, hybrid logics. Our main result shows that the symmetries of a modal formula preserve entailment.

Communication Pattern Models: An Extension of Action Models for Dynamic-Network Distributed Systems [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 335, 2021, pp. 307-321, 2021
Halpern and Moses were the first to recognize, in 1984, the importance of a formal treatment of knowledge in distributed computing. Many works in distributed computing, however, still employ informal notions of knowledge. Hence, it is critical to further study such formalizations.
