Determination of Breed Differences in Ag-NORs Occurrence in Pigs

open access: yesFolia Biologica, 2005
The investigations involved pigs of three breeds: Pietrain, Zlotnicka Spotted and Polish Landrace. The polymorphism in the number and size of nucleolar organizer regions was analyzed in animals of different breeds. It was observed that the average size of Ag-NORs in pigs was higher in chromosome pair 10 than in pair 8.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A New Report on Karyological Analysis of the Jewel-Beetle, Sternocera ruficornis (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) from Thailand

open access: yesScience Technology and Engineering Journal (STEJ), 2021
The first karyological analysis of the Sternocera ruficornis(Coleoptera, Buprestidae) was achieved by using the squash technique collected from the male gonad.

Karyotypic evolution of ribosomal sites in buffalo subspecies and their crossbreed

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2014
Domestic buffaloes are divided into two group based on cytogenetic characteristics and habitats: the "river buffaloes" with 2n = 50 and the "swamp buffaloes", 2n = 48. Nevertheless, their hybrids are viable, fertile and identified by a 2n = 49.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

A new karyotypic formula for the genus Amphisbaena (Squamata: Amphisbaenidae) [PDF]

open access: yesPhyllomedusa: Journal of Herpetology, 2010
To contribute to the knowledge of chromosome evolution in Amphisbaena, we describe the karyotype constitution and the NOR location of Amphisbaena bolivica Mertens, 1929.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Nucleolar organizer regions in Sittasomus griseicapillus and Lepidocolaptes angustirostris (Aves, Dendrocolaptidae): evidence of a chromosome inversion

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2013
Cytogenetic studies in birds are still scarce compared to other vertebrates. Woodcreepers (Dendrocolaptidae) are part of a highly specialized group within the Suboscines of the New World.
