Clinical significance of Ag-NORs-staining in multiple myeloma.

open access: yesThe Journal of the Japanese Society of Clinical Cytology, 1994

Quantitation of proliferation-associated markers Ag-NOR and Ki-67 does not contribute to the prediction of lymph node metastases in squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva

open access: yes, 1996
A key prognostic parameter for vulvar carcinoma is the presence of lymph node metastases. Determination of proliferation markers has been suggested as a method to predict lymph node metastases in several tumor types.

First Cytogenetic Characterization of the Amazon Catfish Leiarius marmoratus (Gill, 1870) and Its Hybrid with Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum (Eigenmann & Eigenmann, 1889)

open access: yesCaryologia, 2021
This study reports the first cytogenetic characterization of the Amazonian catfish Leiarius marmoratus (“jandiá”) and its F1 (first generation or interspecific) hybrid “cachandiá” with Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum (“cachara”).

Determination of Breed Differences in Ag-NORs Occurrence in Pigs

open access: yesFolia Biologica, 2005
The investigations involved pigs of three breeds: Pietrain, Zlotnicka Spotted and Polish Landrace. The polymorphism in the number and size of nucleolar organizer regions was analyzed in animals of different breeds. It was observed that the average size of Ag-NORs in pigs was higher in chromosome pair 10 than in pair 8.

Evidence for TTAGG telomere repeats and rRNA gene clusters in leafhoppers of the genus Alebra (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Cicadellidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2015
The leafhopper genus Alebra Fieber, 1872 comprises a complex of morphologically similar species. The chromosome complements (karyotypes) of five Alebra species, i.e. A. albostriella, A. coryli, A. viridis, A. wahlbergi and a new, yet undescribed species,

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Control of Aflatoxin Production of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus Using RNA Silencing Technology by Targeting aflD (nor-1) Gene. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus are important pathogens of cotton, corn, peanuts and other oil-seed crops, producing toxins both in the field and during storage.

Karyotypes of Danubian lineage brown trout and their hybrids

open access: yesCaryologia, 2019
Cytogenetic analysis of brown trout, Salmo trutta, have been described for different populations and morphs; however, cytogenetic analysis of interspecific brown trout hybrids is unknown.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
