Agar-Dilution Is Comparable to Broth Dilution for MIC Determination in Streptococcus agalactiae

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background: Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus, GBS) is a leading cause of neonatal sepsis in high-income countries. While intrapartum antibiotic screening reduces this risk, increasing resistance to macrolides and lincosamides in Europe ...

Differences in vancomycin MIC among MRSA isolates by agar dilution and E test method

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2012
In this study, the correlation between vancomycin minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) obtained by the E test technique and the Clinical And Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) agar dilution method was evaluated. A total of 53 Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains were tested by both the methods in the present study.
