Effects of Calf Age at Weaning on Cow and Calf Performance and Efficiency in a Drylot/Confinement Production System

open access: yes, 2014
An ongoing study evaluated the effectsof calf age at weaning on cow and calf performance and reproduction in a confinement production system. Early-weaning improved cow BW at normal weaning. Pregnancy rates were not impacted by calf age at weaning.

Improving dairy calf health through inclusion of diarrhea and respiratory health data into a US national genetic evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Calf diarrhea (DIAR) and respiratory illnesses (RESP) are leading causes of calf mortality. This study aimed to develop a comprehensive US national genomic evaluation for these important calf health traits using producer-recorded data from the National

Interleukin‐2 Deprived State of Regulatory T cells and Their Recovery by Low‐Dose Interleukin‐2 in Patients With Inflammatory Myopathies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Regeneration and expansion of Treg by low‐dose interleukin‐2 (IL‐2) therapy is considered a potential treatment strategy for a wide range of autoimmune diseases. To provide a pathophysiologically‐based rationale for low‐dose IL‐2 therapy, we investigated whether reversible defects in the Treg–IL‐2 axis emerge in inflammatory myopathies ...

The Nuclear Receptor Testicular Receptor 4 Orchestrates Cytoskeletal Organization in a G Protein Subunit Alpha 12/Rho‐Associated Protein Kinase–Dependent Manner to Promote Myofibroblast Differentiation and Tissue Fibrosis in Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Members of the superfamily of nuclear receptors have been implicated in inflammatory processes and pathologic tissue remodeling and have emerged as attractive targets for pharmaceutical intervention. However, the role of testicular receptor 4 (TR4; or Nr2c2) in fibroblast activation and rheumatologic diseases has not yet been investigated ...

Autoreactivity vs autoimmunity: characteristics of autoantigen‐specific CD4 T‐cells in rheumatoid arthritis and health.

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Background CD4 T cells specific for citrullinated (cit)‐peptides are key players in RA immunopathogenesis. Characterising these cells and identifying features of healthy and RA‐associated autoreactivity will provide valuable insight into disease mechanisms and form the basis of immune state biomarkers to facilitate the next generation of RA treatments.

Optimization of Arthroscopic All‐Inside Meniscus Repair With a Probe

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Meniscal preservation is essential for knee function and long‐term joint health. All‐inside meniscus repair achieves outcomes comparable to the inside‐out technique, but technical challenges remain, including limited working space, suture cut‐out in degenerative tissue, unfavorable suture angles, and risk of cartilage injury or arthroscope ...
