Using Hybrid Agent-Based Systems to Model Spatially-Influenced Retail Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
One emerging area of agent-based modelling is retail markets; however, there are problems with modelling such systems. The vast size of such markets makes individual-level modelling, for example of customers, difficult and this is particularly true where

On the Limits of Agency in Agent-based Models

open access: yesInternational Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems
Agent-based modeling (ABM) offers powerful insights into complex systems, but its practical utility has been limited by computational constraints and simplistic agent behaviors, especially when simulating large populations. Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) could enhance ABMs with adaptive agents, but their integration into large ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

An Agent-Based Model of Exurban Land Development [PDF]

open access: yes
In contrast to urban areas that are aptly characterized by a large population base and scarce land supply, exurban regions have limited households and plentiful land.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Towards agent-based-model informed neural networks

open access: yesEPJ Data Science
In this article, we present a framework for designing neural networks that remain consistent with the underlying principles of agent-based models. We begin by highlighting the limitations of standard neural differential equations in modeling complex ...

Simulating pedestrian movement in dynamic environments

open access: yesCybergeo, 2010
Agent-based simulation offers multiple advantages when dealing with complex phenomena like pedestrian movement, characterised by a possibly large number of locally interacting entities.
