Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Creating and Validating Hybrid Large-Scale, Multi-Modal Traffic Simulations for Efficient Transport Planning

open access: yesSmart Cities
Mobility digital twins (MDTs), which utilize multi-modal microscopic (micro) traffic simulations and an activity-based demand generation, are envisioned as flexible and reliable planning tools for addressing today’s increasingly complex and diverse ...

The Spatial Agent-based Competition Model (SpAbCoM) [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper presents a detailed documentation of the underlying concepts and methods of the Spatial Agent-based Competition Model (SpAbCoM). For instance, SpAbCoM is used to study firms' choices of spatial pricing policy (GRAUBNER et al., 2011a) or pricing

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Unraveling the Phenomenon of Supply‐Demand Feedback in Agricultural Water Interventions

open access: yesEarth's Future
The Agricultural water interventions can trigger human‐water feedback, including unintended supply demand feedback—where increased water availability drives greater water use. In the Kamadhiya catchment, India, the introduction of check dams (CDs) led to

Multi-level agent-based modeling with the Influence Reaction principle

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with the specification and the implementation of multi-level agent-based models, using a formal model, IRM4MLS (an Influence Reaction Model for Multi-Level Simulation), based on the Influence Reaction principle.

Transportation in Agent-Based Urban Modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
As the urban population rapidly increases to the point where most of us will be living in cities by the end of this century, the need to better understand urban areas grows ever more urgent. Urban simulation modelling as a field has developed in response to this need, utilising developing technologies to explore the complex interdependencies, feedbacks,

Mesoscopic Traffic Flow Model for Agent-Based Simulation

open access: yesANT/EDI40, 2019
Traffic simulation is a key element of agent based models as the various agents decisions impact and are impacted by the realized travel times and delays in the traffic network.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Representation of unlearning in the innovation systems: A proposal from agent-based modeling

open access: yesEstudios Gerenciales, 2017
In the present work it is understood the unlearning as the voluntary effort made by firms to abandon the capacities that are not necessary to compete in an innovation system. Modeling and simulating unlearning makes it possible to know emerging behaviors
