Assessing the impact of revising MenACWY vaccination schedule for adolescents in the United States: a modelling studyResearch in context

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health. Americas
Summary: Background: The current recommendation for MenACWY vaccination against invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) in the United States (US) includes two doses: the first dose at ages 11–12 and a booster dose at age 16.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Argumentative agent-based models

open access: yesJournal of Applied Logics - IfCoLog Journal of Logics and their Applications
Summary: Communication plays a pivotal role in social phenomena such as belief polarization, scientific inquiry, and collective problem-solving. Agent-Based Models (ABMs) are computational tools that simulate the emergence of macro-level phenomena from micro-level interactions among agents. This paper focuses on Argumentative Agent-Based Models (AABMs),

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Generating a synthetic population in support of agent-based modeling of transportation in Sydney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The complexity of large cities such as Sydney makes planning challenging. There is a growing need for new and evolving tools to assist research and decision-making.

Patch-based Hybrid Modelling of Spatially Distributed Systems by Using Stochastic HYPE - ZebraNet as an Example

open access: yes, 2014
Individual-based hybrid modelling of spatially distributed systems is usually expensive. Here, we consider a hybrid system in which mobile agents spread over the space and interact with each other when in close proximity.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Reviewing agent-based modelling of socio-ecosystems: a methodology for the analysis of climate change adaptation and sustainability [PDF]

open access: yes
The integrated - environmental, economic and social - analysis of climate change calls for a paradigm shift as it is fundamentally a problem of complex, bottom-up and multi-agent human behaviour.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
