Enteric Fever in a Cross-section of Patients in Karachi: Current Correlation of Positive Blood Cultures with the Widal Agglutination and the Typhidot Immunoassay Tests

open access: yesJournal of the Dow University of Health Sciences, 2013
Objectives: A lab-based scrutiny to assess the correlation of current blood culture Salmonella isolates as the gold standard with matched Widal agglutinin titers and the EIA-based Typhidot immunoassay antibodies. Methods: 2,704 blood specimens were

Níveis de aglutininas anti-tifoídicas em esquistossomóticos hepato-esplênicos Levels of antityphoid agglutinins in hepatosplenic schistosomiasis patients

open access: yesRevista de Saúde Pública, 1982
Dois grupos, constituídos de 43 esquistossomóticos hepato-esplênicos e 83 indivíduos controle, foram analisados quanto à prevalência de aglutininas anti-tifoídicas.

FOXM1 Protects Against Myocardial Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury in Rodent and Porcine Models by Suppressing MKRN1‐Dependent LKB1 Ubiquitination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FOXM1 maintains mitochondrial bioenergetic function by inhibiting MKRN1‐mediated ubiquitination of LKB1 in cardiomyocytes. Loss of FOXM1 in cardiomyocytes results in upregulation of MKRN1, which enhances LKB1 ubiquitination and disrupts AMPK signaling and energy metabolism pathways. Conversely, FOXM1 overexpression preserves mitochondrial bioenergetics

Anti- Leptospira spp. antibodies in several animal species on the same farm

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2016
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that occurs worldwide, affecting pets and livestock that can be a source of infection for humans, considered therefore an important disease in public health. Thus, an investigation was made into the occurrence of anti-

Anti-leptospirosis agglutinins in Brazilian capybaras (hydrochoerus hydrochaeris)

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2016
Background The interest in commercial use of wild animals is increasing, especially regarding raising of capybaras. Although this wild species is potentially lucrative for the production of meat, oil and leather, it is suggested as a probable reservoir ...

Hologenomics Reveals Specialized Dietary Adaptations in the Mengla Snail‐Eating Snake

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary adaptation studies from a holobiome perspective are scarce beyond mammals. This research reveals how genomic and microbial interactions drive dietary specialization in the Mengla snail‐eating snake, with evidence of gut symbiont convergence between reptiles and mammals.

Binding of salivary agglutinin to IgA [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 2004
SAG (salivary agglutinin), which is identical to gp-340 (glycoprotein-340) from the lung, is encoded by DMBT1 (deleted in malignant brain tumours 1). It is a member of the SRCR (scavenger receptor cysteine-rich) superfamily and contains 14 SRCR domains, 13 of which are highly similar.

Cold Agglutinin Syndrome Secondary to Mycoplasma pneumoniae Infection in Adults: Results From a Large French Observational Study (MyCOLD Study)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
Summary of the main results of the MYCOLD studies. ABSTRACT Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP), primarily a respiratory pathogen, can cause extra‐pulmonary manifestations including cold agglutinin syndrome (CAS). We conducted a national, multicenter, observational, ambispective study to describe the characteristics, risk factors, and outcomes of MP‐associated ...

Development of an efficient mice model of cancer‐associated cardiac cachexia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This work establishes a preclinical framework for targeting ubiquitin pathways to mitigate the morbidity of cancer‐related cardiopathy. Our integrated approach delineates a hierarchical progression from subcellular dysfunction to macroscopic cardiac deterioration. These findings mechanistically link tumor‐induced cachexia to cardiac dysfunction through
