Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Neutrophil Counts, Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, and Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI) Predict Mortality after Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Several perioperative inflammatory markers are postulated to be significant factors for long-term survival after off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB).

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Is it possible to use complete blood collection based systemic inflammatory indices as potential biomarkers for chronic spontaneous urticaria

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is mediated not only by mast cells but also by eosinophils and basophils. We evaluated whether complete blood collection based systemic inflammatory indices- including the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII ...

Relationship Between Preoperative Inflammation Ratios Derived From Preoperative Blood Cell Count and Postoperative Pulmonary Complications in Patients Undergoing Lobectomy: A Single-Center Observational Study

open access: yes, 2023
International audienceAbstractObjective: Evaluation of the association of inflammatory cell ratios, especially neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), based on preoperative complete blood counts, with postoperative complications in lobectomy surgery.Design:

Prognostic value of aggregate index of systemic inflammation in acute ischemic stroke mortality

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Clinics and Laboratory
Aim: Systemic inflammation plays a key role in the pathophysiology of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), influencing disease severity and outcomes. The Aggregate Index of Systemic Inflammation (AISI) is a novel inflammatory biomarker that integrates multiple hematological parameters.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

AGGREGATE INDEX OF SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATION (AISI) IN SURVIVOR AND NON-SURVIVOR SEPSIS PATIENTS

open access: yesINDONESIAN JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PATHOLOGY AND MEDICAL LABORATORY
Sepsis is a serious condition characterized by organ dysfunction resulting from an inappropriate immune response to infection. It is one of the primary causes of death and illness among critically ill patients, and its occurrence has risen over the past century.
