Aggregate Stability under Long-Term Fertilization Practices: The Case of Eroded Ultisols of South-Central China

open access: yesSustainability, 2019
Soil aggregate stability is an important aspect of soil function and health. Fertilization could potentially alter soil properties and thereby affect aggregate stability.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Divergent responses of aggregate breakdown by slaking to nitrogen forms in solution for contrasting soil types

open access: yesGeoderma
Aggregate stability strongly affects many soil processes and is critical to maintain sustainable agriculture. Aggregate breakdown is controlled by the interaction between soil intrinsic properties and solution characteristics.

Money, Credit and Nonfinancial Economic Activity: An Empirical Study of Five Countries [PDF]

open access: yes
Data for five major industrialized economies show that the relationship between credit and nonfinancial economic activity exhibits stability comparable to that of the relationship between money and economic activity.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Effects of Freeze–Thaw Cycles on Soil Aggregate Stability and Organic Carbon Distribution Under Different Land Uses

open access: yesAgriculture
Soil aggregates are critical determinants of soil erosion resistance and nutrient retention capacity, while freeze–thaw cycles (FTCs) induce the structural reorganization of soil aggregates, thereby altering soil stability and influencing soil organic ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Naive fictitious play in an evolutionary environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A fictitious play algorithm with a unit memory length within an evolutionary environment is considered. The aggregate average behavior model is proposed and analyzed.
