Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A social psychological study of ethnonyms: Cognitive representation of the ingroup and intergroup hostility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Ethnonyms (M. G. Levin & L. P. Potapov, 1964; from the Greek roots meaning "a national group" and "name") are the names an in-group uses to distinguish itself from out-groups.

Elevated Tumor Lactate and Efflux in High-grade Prostate Cancer demonstrated by Hyperpolarized 13C Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of Prostate Tissue Slice Cultures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Non-invasive assessment of the biological aggressiveness of prostate cancer (PCa) is needed for men with localized disease. Hyperpolarized (HP) 13C magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy is a powerful approach to image metabolism, specifically the ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

The Correlation Between the Types of Family Education and Aggressiveness in Adolescence

open access: yesРазвитие образования, 2021
This article analyzes the correlation between the type of family education and the manifestation of aggressive behavior in adolescence. The relevance of this study is determined by the influence of family education on the development of aggressive ...

Contribution of galectin-1, a glycan-binding protein, to gastrointestinal tumor progression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gastrointestinal cancer is a group of tumors that affect multiple sites of the digestive system, including the stomach, liver, colon and pancreas. These cancers are very aggressive and rapidly metastasize, thus identifying effective targets is crucial ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Effects of Temperature Stresses on the Resistance of Chickpea Genotypes and Aggressiveness of Didymella rabiei Isolates

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is an important food and rotation crop in many parts of the world. Cold (freezing and chilling temperatures) and Ascochyta blight (Didymella rabiei) are the major constraints in chickpea production.

Chronoamperometric study of the passive behaviour of tantalum in hostile media during water addition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ability of tantalum to become passive through water addition in methanol solution during chronoamperometric experiments has been investigated. The achievement of passivity was found to be modulated according to the applied electrical potential and ...
