Phase Stability Study of the Marcasite‐Structure Solid Solutions (Fe,TM)Sb2 (TM = Cr, Ni) Synthesized via Combinatorial Co‐Deposition and Antimonization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase diagrams of transition‐metal di‐pnictides have been efficiently and quickly explored by combinatorial deposition of transition‐metal films and subsequent antimonization enabling the study of compounds with volatile elements. In (Fe,Ni)Sb2 and the (Fe,Cr)Sb2 substitution series, phase separation has been evidenced between class‐A and B marcasites ...

Cat‐Vibrissa‐Inspired Biomass Fiber Aerogels for Flexible and Highly Sensitive Sensors in Monitoring Human Sport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by cat vibrissae, biomimetic biomass PHFs/SA aerogels (BFAs) are developed via precursor‐assisted in situ polymerization and freeze‐synergistic assembly. These ultralight, porous pressure sensors exhibit high sensitivity and excellent durability, enabling pulse detection, handwriting recognition, Morse code transmission, and notably real‐time ...

Challenges of migrating to agile methodologies [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications of the ACM, 2005
Software development methodologies are constantly evolving due to changing technologies and new demands from users. Today's dynamic business environment has given rise to emergent organizations that continuously adapt their structures, strategies, and policies to suit the new environment [12]. Such organizations need information systems that constantly

Textile Encoding Inspired by Langer Lines via Elastically Graded Embroidered Tessellations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A standard embroidery machine can encode skin‐like directional mechanics into stretchable fabrics that, when worn, augment the wearer's skin. Zigzag stitch patterns, inspired by skin collagen structure, pack extra slack in threads that, when tessellated, mimic Langer lines.

An Agile BPM Project Methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Business Process Management (BPM) has become one of the most important management disciplines in recent years. In reality, however, many technical process improvement projects failed in the past and the expected benefits could not be established. In the meantime, the agile software development movement made massive progress in contrast to classic ...

When Cellulose Moves: Smart Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights cellulose‐derived soft actuators alongside with cellulose‐based sensors. Emphasis is placed on their integration into multifunctional devices that couple sensing and actuation to mimic natural motion and adaptability. We also discuss the challenges of achieving robust, reversible, and multi‐stimuli‐responsive motion, and outline ...

To Agile, or not to Agile: A Comparison of Software Development Methodologies

open access: yes, 2017
Since the Agile Manifesto, many organizations have explored agile development methods to replace traditional waterfall development. Interestingly, waterfall remains the most widely used practice, suggesting that there is something missing from the many "flavors" of agile methodologies.

Engineering Adenine Deaminase TadA for Precise and PAM‐Flexible Point Mutagenesis and Gradient‐Tuning Endogenous Protein Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Base editing enables precise nucleotide substitutions but limited by bystander editing. This study engineers plant base editors by fusing optimized TadA variants with PAM‐flexible SpRY nickase, enabling A‐to‐G, C‐to‐T, and dual‐base conversions in a highly condensed window (≤3 nucleotides). Additionally, TadDBE (TadA Dual‐Base Editor)‐mediated directed
