Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

UVA: A Universal Variational Framework for Continuous Age Analysis [PDF]
Conventional methods for facial age analysis tend to utilize accurate age labels in a supervised way. However, existing age datasets lies in a limited range of ages, leading to a long-tailed distribution. To alleviate the problem, this paper proposes a Universal Variational Aging (UVA) framework to formulate facial age priors in a disentangling manner.

A method to estimate stellar ages from kinematical data [PDF]
We present a method to build a probability density function (pdf) for the age of a star based on its peculiar velocities $U$, $V$ and $W$ and its orbital eccentricity. The sample used in this work comes from the Geneva-Copenhagen Survey (GCS) which contains both the spatial velocities, orbital eccentricities and isochronal ages for about $14\,000 ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Red Blood Cell Oxidative Stress impairs oxygen delivery and induces Red Blood Cell Aging
Red Blood Cells (RBCs) need to deform and squeeze through narrow capillaries. Thus, decreased deformability of RBCs contributes to the elimination of aged or damaged RBCs from the circulation.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and
