Sino‐Mexican Encounters Before the ‘Diplomatic Opening’: Exhibition Diplomacy and Grassroots Friendship in the 1960s

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract During the 1960s, Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) embraced Chinese overtures for a commercial opening as consistent with its anti‐imperialist posture, thereby foreshadowing the diplomatic opening to China in 1972. Yet this professed ideological pluralism was eclipsed by an underlying allegiance to the United States' anti ...

The impact of cosmic voids on AGN activity

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Aims. Our goal is to carry out a comparative study of the properties of central galaxies hosting active galactic nuclei (AGN) in cosmic voids and their surrounding structures (i.e.

NoSOCS in SDSS. VI. The Environmental Dependence of AGN in Clusters and Field in the Local Universe

open access: yes, 2017
We investigated the variation in the fraction of optical active galactic nuclei (AGN) hosts with stellar mass, as well as their local and global environments.

Full‐length transcriptome profiling of true bug mitochondrial genomes reveals the unique transcriptional regulation during insect evolution

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The mitogenome was transcribed into complete primary polycistrons on both strands. The heteropteran mitochondrial transcription termination factor (HmTTF) functions as a bidirectional attenuator rather than a terminator, and co‐evolution of HmTTF and the binding sites was observed.

Are There Higher Electron Densities in Narrow Emission Line Regions of Type-1 AGNs than in Type-2 AGNs?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In the manuscript, we check properties of electron densities n _e traced by flux ratio R _sii of [S ii ] λ 6716 Å to [S ii ] λ 6731 Å in narrow emission line regions (NLRs) between Type-1 active galactic nucleus (AGN) and Type-2 AGN in SDSS Data Release ...

Galactic bars and active galactic nucleus fuelling in the second half of cosmic history

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We investigate the role of galactic bars in fuelling and triggering active galactic nuclei (AGN) in disc galaxies up to z ∼ 0.8. We utilised a deep learning model, fine-tuned on Galaxy Zoo volunteer classifications, to identify (strongly and weakly ...

Econometrics at the Extreme: From Quantile Regression to QFAVAR1

open access: yesJournal of Economic Surveys, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper surveys quantile modelling from its theoretical origins to current advances. We organize the literature and present core econometric formulations and estimation methods for: (i) cross‐sectional quantile regression; (ii) quantile time series models and their time series properties; (iii) quantile vector autoregressions for ...

Different Dependence of Narrow Hα Line Luminosity on Optical Continuum Luminosity between Star-forming Galaxies and Type 2 Active Galactic Nuclei: Globally Negative AGN Feedback in Local Type 2 AGN?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this manuscript, clues are provided to support globally negative active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback on star formation in the host galaxies of the local low-redshift Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Type 2 AGN, based on the different dependence of ...

On the occupation of X-ray selected galaxy groups by radio AGN since z=1.3

open access: yes, 2011
Previous clustering analysis of low-power radio AGN has indicated that they preferentially live in massive groups. The X-ray surveys of the COSMOS field have achieved a sensitivity at which these groups are directly detected out to z=1.3.
