AgNORs in breast tumours

Micron, 2000
There is evidence that the quantitative distribution of AgNOR proteins is a proliferation-related parameter that can be used as a prognostic index in tumour pathology. In breast cancer, some authors found a significant prognostic correlation of AgNOR protein quantity, whereas other did not.

Prognostic value of AgNOR counting

Oncology Reports, 1997
The prognostic significance of the argyrophilic nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) in tumour pathology is still a matter of debate. A prospective study was performed in a series of renal cell carcinomas to clarify the prognostic value of AgNOR counting. Sections from 21 renal cell carcinomas were stained in 1990 with the method of Ploton.

Standardized AgNOR Analysis in Actinic Keratosis

The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 2001
To assess if the quantity of silver-stained nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR) proteins predicts the behavior of actinic keratosis (AK), we performed a standardized AgNOR analysis on 51 cases of AK; in addition, 10 cases of squamous cell (SCC) and 10 cases of basal cell (BCC) carcinomas and 10 normal skin samples were also studied.

The AgNORs

Micron, 2000
The structure and the function of interphase AgNORs and the importance of the "AgNOR" parameter in tumor pathology have been reviewed. Interphase AgNORs are structural-functional units of the nucleolus in which all the components necessary for ribosomal RNA synthesis are located.

AgNOR staining and quantification

Micron, 2000
Nucleolar organiser regions (NORs) are defined as nucleolar components containing a set of argyrophilic proteins, which are selectively stained by silver methods. After silver-staining, the NORs can be easily identified as black dots exclusively localised throughout the nucleolar area, and are called "AgNORs".

The effect of a series of fixatives on the agnor technique

The Journal of Pathology, 1988
AbstractWith increasing interest being shown in nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) in pathology, it was considered of great importance to evaluate the effect of some of the more commonly used and more specialized fixatives on the demonstration of these moieties.NORs can be demonstrated in paraffin sections by a silver technique (AgNOR method) which was

Quantitative evaluation of AgNORs in bone tumours

Pathology, 2003
Primary tumours of bone present a significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenge at times. Silver stained nucleolar organiser regions (AgNORs) have been widely used in a variety of tissues but with a limited study on bone tumours. Our study was aimed at the evaluation of AgNOR count in various neoplastic lesions of bone.: One hundred biopsies of bone

AgNOR Counts in Preneoplastic Lesions of the Bronchus

Pathology - Research and Practice, 1994
Silver staining of argyrophil nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) has become a valuable method to assess cell kinetics in paraffin sections and separate benign from malignant lesions. As a putative technique for the distinction between regenerative and preneoplastic alterations of the bronchial mucosa we employed the Ag-staining method, evaluating the

[AgNOR in neurooncology].

Acta histochemica. Supplementband, 1992
By means of a standardized silver staining technique, nucleolar organizer region-associated proteins (AgNORs) have been demonstrated in paraffin sections of 41 astrocytomas and glioblastomas and 19 meningiomas. Computer-assisted image analysis was used to measure AgNORs together with other nuclear features.
