Non-antibiotic quorum sensing inhibitors acting against N-acyl homoserine lactone synthase as druggable target [PDF]
YesN-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL)-based quorum sensing (QS) is important for the regulation of proteobacterial virulence determinants. Thus, the inhibition of AHL synthases offers non-antibiotics-based therapeutic potentials against QS-mediated bacterial

Cultivation-Based Detection of a Novel High-GC Nitrospira Derived From the Argentinian Copahue Volcano Area. [PDF]
In this cultivation‐based study, two novel moderately thermophilic Nitrospira enrichments were obtained from the geothermal field Las Máquinas in the Neuquén Province, Argentina. Both nitrite oxidizers, belonging to lineage V or the novel taxonomic lineage VIII, contain quorum‐sensing genes and a high genome GC content of 60.6% and 69.4%.

A Novel and Efficient Platform for Discovering Noncanonical Quorum-Quenching Proteins
Quorum sensing (QS) is a well-known chemical signaling system responsible for intercellular communication that is widespread in bacteria. Acyl-homoserine lactone (AHL) is the most-studied QS signal.

The autoinducer synthases LuxI and AinS are responsible for temperature-dependent AHL production in the fish pathogen Aliivibrio salmonicida [PDF]
Quorum sensing (QS) is a cell-to-cell communication system used by bacteria to regulate activities such as virulence, bioluminescence and biofilm formation. The most common QS signals in Gram-negative bacteria are N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs). Aliivibrio salmonicida is the etiological agent of cold water vibriosis in Atlantic salmon, a disease ...

Oridonin Attenuates Burkholderia cenocepacia Virulence by Suppressing Quorum-Sensing Signaling
Burkholderia cenocepacia is a human opportunistic pathogen that mostly employs two types of quorum-sensing (QS) systems to regulate its various biological functions and pathogenicity: the cis-2-dodecenoic acid (BDSF) system and the N-acyl homoserine ...
