Quadratic algebras and integrable chains
Using Krichever-Phong's universal formula, we show that a multiplicative representation linearizes Sklyanin quadratic brackets for a multi-pole Lax function with a spectral parameter. The spectral parameter can be either rational or elliptic.

This review summarizes key parameters including cathode loading and electrolyte consumption, clarifies the practical application scope of alkali metal batteries, and research progress on advanced electrolytes for grid‐scale energy storage systems. The growing demand for grid‐scale battery energy storage systems (BESSs) has prompted researchers to turn ...

Complexity and Inapproximability Results for Parallel Task Scheduling and Strip Packing
We study the Parallel Task Scheduling problem $Pm|size_j|C_{\max}$ with a constant number of machines. This problem is known to be strongly NP-complete for each $m \geq 5$, while it is solvable in pseudo-polynomial time for each $m \leq 3$.

Applying Bayes linear methods to support reliability procurement decisions [PDF]
Bayesian methods are common in reliability and risk assessment, however, such methods often demand a large amount of specification and can be computationally intensive.

Detection of C60 in the proto-planetary nebula IRAS 01005+7910
We report the first detection of buckminsterfullerene (C60) in a proto-planetary nebula (PPN). The vibrational transitions of C60 at 7.0, 17.4, and 18.9um are detected in the Spitzer/IRS spectrum of IRAS 01005+7910.

Albumin-heparin microspheres as carriers for cytostatic agents [PDF]
Much work has been done on adriamycin-loaded albumin microspheres (Alb-MS) for chemoembolization [1–4], the rationale being that site-specific drug delivery may increase the therapeutic efficacy of the drug. Alb-Ms are being investigated because of their

The samples were fungicidal against Candida, with MICs ranging from 62.5 to 250 μg/mL, and fungistatic against Penicillium adametzii, Aspergillus flavus and A. niger, with MICs of 1000 μg/mL. The volatile oils of Piper aduncum and Piper marginatum reduced the viability of MDA‐MB231 cells.

Adaptation-Induced Blindness Is Orientation-Tuned and Monocular
We examined the recently discovered phenomenon of Adaptation-Induced Blindness (AIB), in which highly visible gratings with gradual onset profiles become invisible after exposure to a rapidly flickering grating, even at very high contrasts.

Characterizing maser polarization: effects of saturation, anisotropic pumping and hyperfine structure [PDF]
The polarization of masers contains information on the magnetic field strength and direction of the regions they occur in. Many maser polarization observations have been performed over the last 30 years.
