Quantum chemical study of molecular properties of small branched-chain amino acids in water [PDF]
Four aliphatic amino acids—α-aminobutyric acid (AABA), β-aminobutyric acid (BABA), α-aminoisobutyric acid (AAIBA) and β-aminoisobutyric acid (BAIBA) were investigated in water as a solvent by two quantum chemical methods.

Causal role of genetically predicted impairment of branched-chain amino acid catabolism on insulin secretion and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes. [PDF]
Abstract Background Elevated branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs; leucine, valine, isoleucine) are linked to type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk, characterised by defective insulin secretion in pancreatic β‐cell and peripheral insulin resistance. Causative interaction between BCAA metabolism and these two diabetic pathogenesis remains unclear.

A Novel Multimodal LC-MS/MS Panel for the Comprehensive Diagnosis of Neurometabolic Disorders in CSF. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Metabolic testing of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is essential for early diagnosis of neurometabolic disorders. However, the large number of differential diagnoses, the phenotypic variance within a clinical picture, and the disease rarity complicate targeted metabolic diagnostics.

Roseabol A, a New Peptaibol from the Fungus Clonostachys rosea
A new 11 amino acid linear peptide named roseabol A (1) and the known compound 13-oxo-trans-9,10-epoxy-11(E)-octadecenoic acid (2) were isolated from the fungus Clonostachys rosea. Combined NMR and MS analysis revealed that roseabol A (1) contained amino

The discovery of liquid water at several locations in the solar system raises the possibility that microbial life may have evolved outside Earth and as such could be accidently introduced into the Earth’s ecosystem.

Application of α-aminoisobutyric acid and β-aminoisobutyric acid inhibits pericarp browning of harvested longan fruit [PDF]
Pericarp browning is a critical problem resulting in reduced commercial value and shelf life of longan fruit. Two non-protein amino acids, α-aminoisobutyric acid (AIB) and β-aminoisobutyric acid (BAIB) at 100 and 1 mM were applied to longan fruit prior to storage for up to 8 days at 25 °C respectively.

Urinary beta-aminoisobutyric acid excretion in thalassaemia [PDF]
The quantity of beta-aminoisobutyric acid (BAIB) excreted in the urine of patients with an intact spleen suffering from thalassaemia major appears to be proportional to the number of the circulating normoblasts and inversely proportional to the haemoglobin level. After splenectomy only minute amounts of BAIB are excreted.

Skeletal muscles and gut microbiota-derived metabolites: novel modulators of adipocyte thermogenesis
Obesity occurs when overall energy intake surpasses energy expenditure. White adipose tissue is an energy storage site, whereas brown and beige adipose tissues catabolize stored energy to generate heat, which protects against obesity and obesity ...
