A practical approach to perform the isotropy test for extremity dosemeters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The requirements for determining extremity dosemeter performance have evolved over the past decade. In 2010, the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) adopted a national protocol with performance requirements based on ISO 12794.

Comparison of the NIST and ENEA air kerma standards

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 1998
A comparison was made between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Ente per le Nuove Tecnologie l'Energia e l'Ambiente (ENEA) air kerma standards for medium energy x rays and 60Co gamma rays. The comparison took place at ENEA in June 1994. Two different transfer chambers from NIST were used for the comparison.

On capabilities and limitations of current fast neutron-flux monitoring instrumentation for the DEMO LFR ALFRED [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Among Gen IV projects for future nuclear power plants, Lead cooled Fast Reactors (LFR) seem to be a very interesting solution due to its benefits in terms of fuel cycle, coolant-safety and waste management.

A generalized definition of dosimetric quantities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The current definitions of microdosimetric and dosimetric quantities use the notion of 'ionizing radiation'. However, this notion is not rigorously defined, and its definition would require the somewhat arbitrary choice of specified energy cut-off values

Average Glandular Dose (AGD) and Radiation Dose Optimization in Screen-Film and Digital X-ray Mammography

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
We determined the average glandular dose (AGD) from the craniocaudally (CC) and mediolateral oblique (MLO) views of 496 breasts (247 women) at eight clinics in Sudan.

Adrenal Vein Sampling: Radiation Dose Reduction on New Angiography Platform

open access: yesThe Arab Journal of Interventional Radiology, 2020
Objectives: Primary aldosteronism is one of the most common causes of secondary hypertension. Distinguishing unilateral from bilateral disease is essential as those with unilateral adrenal disease will benefit from adrenalectomy. This is best achieved by

Low-dose-rate iodine-125 seed air kerma strength measurement intercomparison [PDF]

open access: yesBrachytherapy, 2020
The purpose of this study was to investigate the rate of compliance of air kerma strength (AKS) measurements of iodine-125 (I-125) seeds with international recommendations by departments in Australia and determine the potential impact of noncompliance. To achieve this aim, we present an intercomparison of AKS measurements for a single I-125 seed ...

Response of Photon Dosimeters and Survey Instruments to New Operational Quantities Proposed by ICRU RC26

open access: yes, 2018
Operational quantities in radiation protection are defined as conservative estimates of the protection quantities, which are generally not accessible to measurement.
