Infections with Avian Pathogenic and Fecal Escherichia coli Strains Display Similar Lung Histopathology and Macrophage Apoptosis [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to compare histopathological changes in the lungs of chickens infected with avian pathogenic (APEC) and avian fecal (Afecal) Escherichia coli strains, and to analyze how the interaction of the bacteria with avian ...

Improving trans‐cinnamic acid production in a model cyanobacterium
Abstract trans‐Cinnamic acid (tCA) is a precursor in the synthesis of many high‐value compounds with bio‐active qualities useful in applications like medicine, polymers, and cosmetics. Currently tCA is produced by industrial chemical synthesis from fossil fuels or cost‐prohibitive isolation from terrestrial plants.

Abstract Bulk electrical impedance spectroscopy (bio‐capacitance) probes, hold significant promise for real‐time cell monitoring in bioprocesses. Focusing on Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, we present a sensitivity analysis framework to assess the impact of cell and culture properties on the complex permittivity spectrum, εmix, and its associated ...

Imitation of Life: Advanced system for native Artificial Evolution [PDF]
A model for artificial evolution in native x86 Windows systems has been developed at the end of 2010. In this text, further improvements and additional analogies to natural microbiologic processes are presented. Several experiments indicate the capability of the system - and raise the question of possible countermeasures.

Abstract The possibility to produce recombinant adeno‐associated virus (rAAV) by adherent HEK293T cells was studied in a stirred tank bioreactor (STR) culture of cell aggregates. A proof‐of‐concept of rAAV production was successfully demonstrated in a process where single cells were first expanded, then cell aggregates were formed by dilution into a ...

Thermodynamic properties of microbian populations on biological membranes [PDF]
In this work we to develop a general statistical mechanic formalism to study systems restricted to surfaces of revolution, these are a very well model to study the termodinamical properties of microbiological systems and macromolecules lies on biological membranes such as cellular well.

Microbiological air quality in free-farrowing housing systems for sows
This study investigates air hygienic characteristics of housing systems without fixation for lactating sows, with a focus on microbiological air quality. For animal welfare considerations, free-farrowing systems have been developed to replace those with farrowing crates (FC) and are currently available on the market. A group housing system (GH) for six

Abstract We present the first use of a bioengineered mammalian transposase system derived from Myotis lucifugus (bMLT) for integration of expression vectors into the CHO genome, focusing on GFP and trastuzumab production. Initially, CHO‐K1 cells are transfected with a GFP reporter and varying amounts of bMLT DNA or mRNA.
