Air quality impact of a decision support system for reducing pollutant emissions: CARBOTRAF [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Traffic congestion with frequent “stop & go” situations causes substantial pollutant emissions. Black carbon (BC) is a good indicator of combustion-related air pollution and results in negative health effects.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Optimal Sensor Deployment and Velocity Configuration With Hybrid TDOA and FDOA Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Source localization based on the hybrid time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) and frequency-difference-of-arrival (FDOA) measurements from distributed sensors is an essential problem in wireless sensor networks (WSNs).

Panoramic Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory Networks for Combat Intension Recognition of Aerial Targets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Aiming at the limitation that traditional methods for combat intention recognition of aerial targets are difficult to effectively capture the essential characteristics of intelligence information, we design a novel deep learning method, Panoramic ...

Abstractions of stochastic hybrid systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Many control systems have large, infinite state space that can not be easily abstracted. One method to analyse and verify these systems is reachability analysis. It is frequently used for air traffic control and power plants.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

National Air Traffic Services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
National Air Traffic Services (NATS) are concerned with ensuring low probabilities of errors in determining aircraft positions. In general, error probabilities depend on the tails of some probability distributions for which there has been no theoretical ...

A Simulation Framework for Fast Design Space Exploration of Unmanned Air System Traffic Management Policies

open access: yes, 2019
The number of daily small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) operations in uncontrolled low altitude airspace is expected to reach into the millions. UAS Traffic Management (UTM) is an emerging concept aiming at the safe and efficient management of such ...

Road-traffic pollution and asthma – using modelled exposure assessment for routine public health surveillance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Asthma is a common disease and appears to be increasing in prevalence. There is evidence linking air pollution, including that from road-traffic, with asthma. Road traffic is also on the increase.
