Air traffic controller agents

Proceedings of the second international joint conference on Autonomous agents and multiagent systems, 2003
Research sought to develop agents that can stand in for human air traffic controllers in large-scale simulation studies of advanced air traffic management concepts. The agents use a high-level activity model to structure the air traffic control task, and apply heuristics to plan and formulate clearances.

Air Traffic Control

1970
Abstract : The report covers the development of improved surveillance and communication subsystems to meet the demands of the automated NAS/ARTS Air Traffic Control system. Field measurements of the beacon interference environment were completed and studies to upgrade sensor efficiency were intensified.

The Case of Air Traffic Control

2017
Air traffic controllers have to guarantee safe and efficient air traffic by predicting future flight paths based on their perception and interpretation of multiple data on the radar display. The multitasking nature of their job makes the cognitive and emotional processes required in air traffic control fundamentally different from those traditionally ...

The Air-Traffic Controller

1978
To the layman, air-traffic control is one of the more exotic jobs created by advanced technology, on a par with computers, high speed aircraft and complex chemical plant. For the applied psychologist, too, it presents a variety of interesting facets : it is a very new profession, concerned with rapidly developing procedures and equipment, and there is ...

Air traffic control

Nature, 2000
Molecular traffic can spontaneously direct itself along a network of channels. Philip Ball explains how this could be used to separate large molecules from small.

Air Traffic Control

2012
Air traffic control (ATC) is a service provided by ground-based controllers who ensure the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of traffic on the airways and at airports. They control and supervise aircraft departing and landing, as well as during flight by instructing pilots to fly at assigned altitudes and on defined routes.

Ground traffic surveillance system for Air Traffic control

2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications, 2012
In this paper a framework for an airport ground traffic surveillance system based on visual information is presented. The framework is designed to improve state-of-the-art Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS) adding an image processing module able to act as a “gap-filler” for airport zones that traditional systems fail to ...

Fatigue and Stress in Air Traffic Controllers

Ergonomics, 1971
Abstract Fatigue was measured on 68 air traffic controllers using the following methods: critical fusion frequency (CFF), tapping test, grid tapping test, self-rating. The measurements were taken 9 times within 24 hours over 3 weeks. Stress was measured on the basis of a questionnaire and of catecholamine excretion in urine.

Design-In Security for Air Traffic Control

2014 Ninth International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security, 2014
Under the SESAR Programme, the European Air Traffic Management (ATM) industry has adopted an approach of 'design-in security' by applying security assessment from the beginning of the development lifecycle. This has necessitated a convergence of different approaches to security assessment from the different partners.
