Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Propagation of an Airy-Gaussian beam passing through a lens with low effective Fresnel number

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
We derive an analytical propagation expression for the Airy-Gaussian beam propagating through a thin lens, and calculate numerical examples to investigate its focusing properties.

Reflection Characteristics of Airy Beams Impinging on Graphene-Substrate Surfaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2022
In this work, we analytically and numerically investigate the reflection characteristics of the airy beams impinging on graphene-substrate surfaces. The explicit analytical expressions for the electric and magnetic field components of the airy beams ...

Non-Paraxial Accelerating Beams

open access: yes, 2012
We present the spatially accelerating solutions of the Maxwell equations. Such non-paraxial beams accelerate in a circular trajectory, thus generalizing the concept of Airy beams.

Observation of self-accelerating Bessel-like optical beams along arbitrary trajectories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We experimentally demonstrate self-accelerating Bessel-like optical beams propagating along arbitrary trajectories in free space. With computer generated holography, such beams are designed to follow different controllable trajectories while their main ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Wideband Airy Beam Generation Using Reflective Metasurfaces with Both Phase and Amplitude Modulation

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Airy beams are an intriguing type of non-diffraction wave packet that can exist in one-dimensional (1D) curved orbital plane systems. These beams have gained significant attention due to their unique properties, including non-diffraction, self-healing ...

Curved plasma channels: Kerr lens and Airy prism

open access: yes, 2009
We analytically calculate the transverse energy fluxes that would be respectively induced in high-power Airy beams by the Kerr self-focusing and the Airy profile itself if they were the only active process.

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Tailoring the Generalized 2D Airy Beam

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Generalized two-dimensional (2D) Airy beam is a kind of self-accelerating beam with variable initial angle between its two wings, manifested itself as an initial angle determined parabolic trajectory during the free-space propagation.
