Comparing the Formability of AISI 304 and AISI 202 Stainless Steels

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2011
The formability of AISI 202 austenitic stainless steel was compared with that of type AISI 304 stainless steel. Type 202 is a low-nickel austenitic stainless steel alloyed with manganese and nitrogen. In this study, the formability of the two grades was examined using Erichsen cupping tests and room temperature uniaxial tensile tests performed at ...

Corrosion Behaviour of Electron Beam Welded AISI 304 and AISI 4140

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In the present work hot corrosion studies were carried out on electron beam welded AISI 304 and AISI 4140 dissimilar weldment in molten salt (K2SO4-60% NaCl) environment at 800 °C for 50 cycles. The weight gain follows parabolic law in all the cases. It is observed that the scale formation was maximum on 4140 side as compared on 304 side.

Friction Welding of AISI 304 and AISI 1021 Dissimilar Steels at 1600RPM

Asian Review of Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Friction welding is a solid state joining process which is extensively used due to its advantages such as low heat input, ability to join dissimilar materials and environment friendliness. Friction welding can be used to join different kinds of materials which cannot be welded by conventional fusion welding processes. The rotational speed and the axial

Chemical and Mechanical Characterization of AISI 304 and AISI 1010 Laser Welding

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2015
This paper addresses to the dissimilar laser welding of AISI 304 and AISI 1010 steel thin sheets. Cracks-free dissimilar edge fillet welds have been conducted using a Nd:YAG laser. Geometrical, microstructural, chemical, and mechanical proprieties of the welds were investigated using electron microscopy, EDS and tensile test assisted by digital image ...

Fractal Analysis of the Microstructure of Aisi 304 Steel.

MRS Proceedings, 1995
ABSTRACTThe present work reports the results of fractal analysis of the grain boundaries of AISI 304 stainless steel. Microstructure in the non deformed condition is compared against microstructure with 50% tensile strain. Observations were made by optical microscopy, magnifications used were 50, 100, 200, 400, and 1000x.
