Corrosion Behaviour of Electron Beam Welded AISI 304 and AISI 4140
Advanced Materials Research, 2011In the present work hot corrosion studies were carried out on electron beam welded AISI 304 and AISI 4140 dissimilar weldment in molten salt (K2SO4-60% NaCl) environment at 800 °C for 50 cycles. The weight gain follows parabolic law in all the cases. It is observed that the scale formation was maximum on 4140 side as compared on 304 side.

Chemical and Mechanical Characterization of AISI 304 and AISI 1010 Laser Welding
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2015This paper addresses to the dissimilar laser welding of AISI 304 and AISI 1010 steel thin sheets. Cracks-free dissimilar edge fillet welds have been conducted using a Nd:YAG laser. Geometrical, microstructural, chemical, and mechanical proprieties of the welds were investigated using electron microscopy, EDS and tensile test assisted by digital image ...

Weldability of AISI 304 to Copper by Friction Welding
Materials Testing, 2013Abstract Friction welding is a solid-state welding method, which can join different materials smoothly and is excessively used in manufacturing industry. Friction welding method is commonly used in welding applications of especially cylindrical components, pipes and materials with different properties, for which other welding methods ...

Fractal Analysis of the Microstructure of Aisi 304 Steel.
MRS Proceedings, 1995ABSTRACTThe present work reports the results of fractal analysis of the grain boundaries of AISI 304 stainless steel. Microstructure in the non deformed condition is compared against microstructure with 50% tensile strain. Observations were made by optical microscopy, magnifications used were 50, 100, 200, 400, and 1000x.

AISI 304 laser prototyping by different techniques
SPIE Proceedings, 2000The laser forming process of metal sheet has been investigated and has proved to be adequate to rapid prototyping. In order to successfully apply this technique, a deep understanding of laser-material interaction is required. Since the AISI 304 stainless steel is widely used for deformation processes, the authors decided to investigate its laser ...

In this study, AISI D2 tool steel was thixowelded with AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel by using a direct partial remelting technique. The joining parameters (temperature, soaking time, and contact area) have been investigated by studying their effects on the mechanical and metallurgical properties of the thixowelded joint.

MODELLING AND EXPERIMENTS OF SOLIDIFICATION OF AISI 304
2007In the first part of this paper the solidification of AISI 304 is simulated by means of the multicomponent phase selection theory to predict which phase forms first when the molten alloy is solidified either ä or ã. The eventual ä– ã transition that may occur in AISI 304-type steels has influence on cracking tendency being increased at high ...

Precipitation of trace amounts of boron in AISI 304 L and AISI 316 L
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1970Abstract The technique of boron topography, based on observation of damage tracks from the 10 B(n,α) 7 Li nuclear reaction, was used to study the distribution of 3 to 50 ppm boron in 304 L and of 1 to 35 ppm boron in 316 L. It is found that the solubility in 304 L is less than 9 ppm at temperatures below 1000 °C.
