Effects of composition on the in-reactor creep of AISI 316 [PDF]
Compositional variations affect the inreactor creep of 316 stainless steel. Pre- and postirradiation diametral change measurements of pressurized tube specimens irradiated at 450 °C to 4.6 × 1022 n/cm2 E > 0.1MeV) have indicated that increases in the solute concentrations of silicon, phosphorus, and molybdenum retard irradiation creep. The data suggest

In this study, the Near Solidus Forming (NSF) process, which falls under the umbrella of semi-solid processes, was utilized to coforge an AISI 316 tube and an AISI 3415 rod into an as-forged valve geometry. The billet used for the process was kept as large as possible to increase the contact surface area between the two materials.
