The synthesis of 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane for the production of isoprene in perchloric acid is carried out. The synthesis apparatus is made of AISI 316 stainless steel. Here, AISI 316 steel corrosion in pure perchloric acid and in the presence of benzotriazole as a corrosion inhibitor is investigated by the potentiodynamic method.
