Effects of Multiple Quenching Treatments on Microstructure and Hardness of O2, D2, and D3 Tool Steels

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
The effects of multiple austenitizing and quenching (AQ) thermal cycles on the microstructure and hardness of AISI O2 (90MnCrV8), D2 (X153CrMoV12), and D3 (X210Cr13) tool steels were systematically investigated.

CRYOGENIC AND STRESS RELIEF THERMAL TREATMENTS IN AN AISI D2 STEEL [PDF]

open access: yesTecnologia em Metalurgia, Materiais e Mineração, 2012
The effects of cryogenic treatments on an AISI D2 cold work tool steel using X-ray diffraction from syncronton radiation are studied. The aim of this work is to verify the effects of: i) time at cryogenic temperatures (3, 10 and 30 hours); ii ...

Study of Short Times Tempering for AISI D2 Cold Work Tool Steel

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2023
Short time tempering has been applied to steels to improve toughness keeping the hardness at the same level. For AISI D2 tool steel, typical thermal cycles are quench and temper.

Toward the Application of Multiaxial Failure Criteria: Mean Stress Sensitivity of Carbide‐Rich, High‐Alloy PM‐HIP Tool Steels Under Axial and Torsional Cyclic Loading

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study quantifies axial and torsional long‐life fatigue (LLF) behavior of three carbide‐rich PM‐HIP tool steels, correlating LLF strength with intrinsic defect size and cleanliness, thereby extracting material‐specific mean stress sensitivities and Haigh diagrams.

Analysis of AISI D2 Steel by using SEM Images

open access: yesInternational Journal of Recent Technology and Engineering, 2020
Hard turning is a new emerging technique in manufacturing industry which involves turning of hard steel having hardness more than 60 HRC. Here in the present work, the objective of the study is steel type ENX160CrMo having hardness 62 HRC. Hard turning were carried out at different cutting parameters and chip hardness and micro- chip SEM images were ...

The Influence of the Pretreatment of Tool Steel on the Running‐In Phase of Diamond‐Like Carbon Coatings

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The influence of tool steel pretreatment on the running‐in behavior of TiNb‐diamond‐like carbon (DLC) coatings is investigated. Ion etching promotes carbide protrusion and increases coating roughness, while post‐deposition polishing reduces surface asperities.

Cobalt‐Doped Diamond‐Like Carbon Coatings Combined With Functionalised Polymers for Enhanced Tribological Performance

open access: yesLubrication Science, Volume 38, Issue 4, Page 191-197, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, doped diamond‐like carbon (DLC) coatings combined with functionalised copolymers have gained attention as a lubrication concept. While silicon‐doped DLC has been widely studied, polymer‐assisted lubrication on other doped DLC systems remains less explored.
