Surface Topography in Machining of AISI D2 Hardened Steel
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013Surface topography plays an important part in understanding the nature of machined surfaces. This study is focused on surface topography of AISI D2 hardened steel (58-62 HRC) under dry milling process. Roughness, surface morphology and defects analysis were investigated.

Performance characteristics of hardened AISI D2 steel turning: A review
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020Abstract Hard turning is the process of machining hardened steels that have above 45HRC. In metal-manufacturing, hard turning potentially substitutes the grinding process as it possesses lots of benefits like higher metal volume removal rate, less costly, easy to handle, flexible tooling and exhibiting closer surface quality to grinding finish.

Wear properties of friction stir processed AISI D2 tool steel
Tribology International, 2015Abstract Influences of microstructural and textural properties of friction stir processing (FSP) on dry reciprocating wear properties of AISI D2 tool steel are investigated in this study. The mechanical improvement is attributed not only to the homogenous distribution of very small carbides in a refined matrix, but also to significant development of ...
