In-Situ Reaction Depposition Coating of LaPO4 on Al2O3 Fabric Cloth for Al2O3/Al2O3 Composites

In-situ reaction deposition, a liquid-phase coating method, was applied to coat monazite (LaPO 4 ) on alumina fabric cloth for improving the uniformity of coating. Coating was characterized for thickness, microstructure and composition by SEM, XRD and EDS. Stability of the coating was estimated by heat exposure at 1200 °C for 48 h in air.

Surface, grain-boundary and interfacial energies in Al2O3 and Al2O3-Sn, Al2O3-Co systems

Using the multiphase equilibrium method for the measurement of contact angles, the surface and grain-boundary energies of polycrystalline Al2O3 in the temperature range of 1473 to 1923 K were determined. Linear temperature functions were obtained by extrapolation for both quantities between absolute zero and the melting point of Al2O3.

Tunnelling cracks in Al2O3/Al2O3–ZrO2 layered composites

Two sizes of symmetrical, five-layered ceramic composites with alumina surface layers and alumina–zirconia inner layers were produced. Each composite had the same sequence and composition of individual layers; however, the measured strength of the large-sized sample was only 76 MPa to 115 MPa.

Abstract The hydrogenation of CO adsorbed on Pd/Al 2 O 3 can proceed through the formation of a methoxy species on the Al 2 O 3 support by spillover. The rate of formation of the methoxy species and the effect of coadsorbed water on CH 3 O hydrogenation are presented.
