The decline of aerial insectivorous birds has been hypothesized to stem, in part, from a decline in aerial arthropod prey, underscoring the need for long-term monitoring of both bird and arthropod populations.

Indigenous peoples and salmon stewardship: a critical relationship
Indigenous Peoples and salmon in the lands now called Alaska have been closely entwined for at least 12,000 years. Salmon continue to be central to the ways of life of Alaska Natives, contributing to physical, social, economic, cultural, spiritual ...

Unconventional sign-changing superconductivity near quantum criticality in YFe$_2$Ge$_2$ [PDF]
I present the results of first principles calculations of the electronic structure and magnetic interactions for the recently discovered superconductor YFe$_2$Ge$_2$ and use them to identify the nature of superconductivity and quantum criticality in this compound.

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

PACIFIC WALRUS PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT IN A CHANGING CLIMATE
This article identifies and evaluates strategies and policies for walrus management in both Chukotka and Alaska. As the climate and walrus migration continue to change, it is important to follow adaptable strategies that are not fixed to specific ...

The correlation dimension of differenced data [PDF]
The effect differencing has on the estimated correlation dimension of a nongaussian time series is discussed. Two different methods for generating surrogate data sets are compared. The results suggest that any filtering should be applied to both the raw and surrogate time series, otherwise spurious results can occur.

Strong-coupling electron-phonon superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric quasi-one-dimensional K$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$ [PDF]
I study the lattice dynamics and electron-phonon coupling in non-centrosymmetric quasi-one-dimensional K$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$ using density functional theory based first principles calculations. The phonon dispersions show stable phonons without any soft-mode behavior. They also exhibit features that point to a strong interaction of K atoms with the lattice.

Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...
