A Comprehensive Immunocapture-LC-MS/MS Bioanalytical Approach in Support of a Biotherapeutic Ocular PK Study

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
BI-X, a therapeutic protein under development for the treatment of human ocular disease via intravitreal administration, binds to its therapeutic targets and endogenous albumin in the vitreous humor.

GP60 and SPARC as albumin receptors: key targeted sites for the delivery of antitumor drugs

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Albumin is derived from human or animal blood, and its ability to bind to a large number of endogenous or exogenous biomolecules makes it an ideal drug carrier. As a result, albumin-based drug delivery systems are increasingly being studied.

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Cathepsin B-Overexpressed Tumor Cell Activatable Albumin-Binding Doxorubicin Prodrug for Cancer-Targeted Therapy

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
Prodrugs are bioreversible medications that should undergo an enzymatic or chemical transformation in the tumor microenvironment to release active drugs, which improve cancer selectivity to reduce toxicities of anticancer drugs.

C9orf72 ALS‐causing mutations lead to mislocalization and aggregation of nucleoporin Nup107 into stress granules

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

How Different Albumin-Binders Drive Probe Distribution of Fluorescent RGD Mimetics

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
The biodistribution of medical imaging probes depends on the chemical nature of the probe and the preferred metabolization and excretion routes. Especially targeted probes, which have to reach a certain (sub)cellular destination, have to be guided to the
