A Component Methodology to Assess The Impact of Protein Imports on the U.S. Dairy Industry [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides an assessment of the protein content of U.S. trade in dairy products and their potential impact on U.S. milk prices. The protein in imports of MPC, Casein & Albumins accounted for 5-6 percent of protein in total U.S.

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical

Biochemical evaluation of protein fractions from physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.)

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2012
J. curcas seed proteins were fractioned according to the Osborne method and some biochemical properties were determined for these fractions. Glutelins (378 g kg–1 protein) and globulins (201 g kg–1 protein) were the main components.

Enhancing transporter activity in heterologous expression systems with SAHA: a 2500‐times more potent and odorless alternative to butyrate

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Heterologous expression of membrane transporters in cultured cells is essential for functional characterization, but is sometimes limited by low activity. Our study compares the HDAC inhibitors butyrate, VPA and SAHA to enhance transport activity. We propose to replace butyrate by SAHA: it is equally effective, devoid of repulsive odor, costs less, and

Optimisation of tennis string production from bovine intestine : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master in Technology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The collagen and elastin content of the beef thread samples ranged from between 47-70% and 1.2-2.5% respectively. Amino acid analysis showed that the collagen present was probably collagen Type I while the non-collagenous proteins predominantly were ...

Isoelectric point of albumin: Effect on renal handling of albumin

open access: yesKidney International, 1979
Electrical charge is thought to be an important factor in the integrity of the glomerular barrier to filtration of macromolecules [1, 2]. Studies that have explored the integrity of the glomerular barrier to filtration have been done with heterologous tracer or probe proteins and with polysaccharide macromolecules.

Soman induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis of cerebral organoids via the GRP78‐ATF6‐CHOP signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).

Displacement of plasma protein and conduction velocity in rats under action of acceleration forces and hypokinesia [PDF]

open access: yes
The permeability of capillary vessels was investigated in order to determine if acceleration alone or following prolonged hypokinesia would induce changes in the vascular wall leading to the penetration by l-albumins and/or proteins with larger molecules.
