Immunoglobulin changes in boars exposed to administration of levamisole and exogenous adrenocorticotropic hormone [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2012
The objective of this paper was to determine the effect of levamisole (LEV) on immunoglobulin concentration in the serum of boars exposed to 3-day stress induced by exogenous ACTH. Boars were assigned to 4 groups (n=7).

Optimisation of tennis string production from bovine intestine : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master in Technology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The collagen and elastin content of the beef thread samples ranged from between 47-70% and 1.2-2.5% respectively. Amino acid analysis showed that the collagen present was probably collagen Type I while the non-collagenous proteins predominantly were ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Endothelial Damage in Sepsis: The Interplay of Coagulopathy, Capillary Leak, and Vasoplegia—A Physiopathological Study

open access: yesClinics and Practice
Background: Sepsis remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, and understanding endothelial damage is crucial for improving patient outcomes. Endothelial dysfunction in sepsis contributes to coagulopathy, increased capillary permeability, and ...

Protein–Phenolic Interactions as a Factor Affecting the Physicochemical Properties of White Bean Proteins

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
This study was conducted with an aim to determine the interactions of pure phenolic compounds (gallic acid, ferulic acid, chlorogenic acid, quercetin, apigenin, and catechin) and phenolics from plant extracts (green tea and green coffee) with protein ...

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Predictive nomogram of high-risk patients with active tuberculosis in latent tuberculosis infection

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries
Introduction: The absence of predictive models for early latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) progression persists. This study aimed to create a screening model to identify high-risk LTBI patients prome to active tuberculosis (ATB) reactivation ...

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...
