Clinical Conditions Associated With a High Antinuclear Antibody Titer in Individuals Without Autoimmune Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are present at high titers in 2% of the general population, but their clinical significance in individuals without an autoimmune (AI) disease is not known. We tested the hypothesis that the presence of a high ANA titer in non‐AI conditions is associated with disease.

Regular Languages and Associative Language Descriptions [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2007
The Associative Language Description model (ALD) is a combination of locally testable and constituent structure ideas. It is consistent with current views on brain organization and can rather conveniently describe typical technical languages such as ...

Psychosocial characteristics of alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver disease recipient candidates in liver transplantation: a prospective observational study

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2021
Background There are long-standing controversies about the transplant indications for alcoholic liver disease (ALD), because of the recognition that ALD is fundamentally self-inflicted.

The Development of a Sex Pheromone Lure for the American Plum Borer, \u3ci\u3eEuzophera Semifuneralis\u3c/i\u3e (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), a Major Pest of Cherry in Michigan. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pheromone components of the American plum borer, Euzophera semifuneralis, were defined by use of the electroantennogram screening technique and capillary gas chromatographic retention times of sex pheromone gland constituents.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

SIRT2-mediated deacetylation and deubiquitination of C/EBPβ prevents ethanol-induced liver injury

open access: yesCell Discovery, 2021
Protein acetylation has emerged to play pivotal roles in alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Sirutin 2 (SIRT2) is a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)-dependent deacetylase involved in the regulation of aging, metabolism, and stress.

Unraveling the Mg Loss Mechanism and Degradation Kinetics in Thermoelectric n‐Type Mg2Si‐Mg2Sn Solid Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mg‐based thermoelectrics are among the most promising candidates for power generation applications but their performance is compromised by Mg loss at device operation temperatures due to the higher chemical potential of Mg (μMg${\mu}_{\mathrm{Mg}}$) inside the material compared to the environment.
