Deep Learning Approaches for Classifying Crack States With Overload and Predicting Fatigue Parameters in a Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a deep learning approach to evaluate the fatigue crack behavior in metals under overload conditions. Using digital image correlation to capture the strain near crack tips, convolutional neural networks classify crack states as normal, overload, or recovery, and accurately predict fatigue parameters.

The algebraic degree of geometric optimization problems [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 1988
We apply Galois methods to certain fundamental geometric optimization problems whose exact computational complexity has been an open problem for a long time. In particular we show that the classic Weber problem, along with the line-restricted Weber problem and its three-dimensional version are in general not solvable by radicals over the field of ...

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

Construction of Resilient Functions with High Nonlinearity and Optimal Algebraic Degree

open access: yes四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 2017
Resilient Boolean functions with good nonlinearity and optimal algebraic degree play an important role in the design and analysis of stream cipher and block ciphers.

Algebraic Properties of Chromatic Polynomials and Their Roots

open access: yes, 2015
In this thesis we examine chromatic polynomials from the viewpoint of algebraic number theory. We relate algebraic properties of chromatic polynomials of graphs to structural properties of those graphs for some simple families of graphs.

SiOx‐Based Probabilistic Bits Enabling Invertible Logic Gate for Cryptographic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
To enable lightweight hardware encryption and decryption, a Ti/SiOx/Ti threshold switching device is engineered to generate controllable stochastic oscillations. By tuning the input voltage, the device produces a programmable spike probability governed by intrinsic switching dynamics, enabling probabilistic bits that construct an invertible ...

Definition of complex roots of the fourth degree algebraic equation

open access: yesДоклады Белорусского государственного университета информатики и радиоэлектроники, 2019
The calculating algorithm of the real part of the complex roots of equations on the basis of brief equivalent equations with coefficients in the form of roots' sums and products is proposed.

The Herfindahl neutral point: A firm‐level threshold for managing market concentration with evidence from US hog packing

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper derives a firm‐level threshold, the Herfindahl Neutral Point, from the standard concentration index used in merger review. At this threshold, a marginal expansion leaves the index unchanged. Firms below the threshold reduce concentration when they expand; firms above it increase concentration.

On chains in division algebras of degree 3

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2009
Let D be a division algebra of degree 3 over a field containing a primitive cube root of unity. We give two proofs of a theorem of Rost asserting that any two Kummer elements in D can be connected by a chain of length 4.
