Aggregation and the Structure of Value

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 619-644, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Roughly, the view I call “Additivism” sums up value across time and people. Given some standard assumptions, I show that Additivism follows from two principles. The first says that how lives align in time cannot, in itself, matter. The second says, roughly, that a world cannot be better unless it is better within some period or another.

Markup Centrality and International Incidence in Global Production Networks

open access: yesReview of International Economics, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 891-903, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper develops a framework to measure how markups amplify prices through global production networks and to attribute final‐demand price wedges to upstream country‐industry sources. The approach defines a compound markup as the ratio of observed prices to counterfactual pure‐cost prices that would prevail if all markups in the network were

Cauchy identities for staircase matrices

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 114, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract The well‐known Cauchy identity expresses the product of terms (1−xiyj)−1${(1-{x}_{i}{y}_{j})}^{-1}$ for (i,j)$(i,j)$ indexing entries of a rectangular m×n$m\ensuremath{\times{}}n$‐matrix as a sum over partitions λ$\lambda $ of products of Schur polynomials: sλ(x)sλ(y)${s}_{\lambda}(x){s}_{\lambda}(y)$.

Invariant splitting principles for the Lipshitz–Ozsváth–Thurston correspondence

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract We prove that the Lipshitz–Ozsváth–Thurston correspondence between extended type D structures of knot complements and F[U,V]/(UV)$\mathbb{F}[U,V]/(\textit{UV})$ knot Floer complexes can be arranged so that ιK${\iota}_{K}$‐invariant splittings of knot Floer chain complexes correspond to ιS3∖K${\iota}_{{S}^{3}\setminus K}$‐invariant splittings ...
