Inhibitor specificity of amine oxidase [PDF]

open access: yes, 1943
Although at the present time it appears clear that amine oxidase oxidation of adrenalin, or other o-diphenolic pressor amines such as were studied by Richter (6), does not play a significant physiological role, it is equally clear that the inactivation ...

The abundances of hydrocarbon functional groups in the interstellar medium inferred from laboratory spectra of hydrogenated and methylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

open access: yes, 2013
Infrared (IR) absorption spectra of individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) containing methyl (-CH3), methylene (>CH2), or diamond-like *CH groups and IR spectra of mixtures of methylated and hydrogenated PAHs prepared by gas phase ...

Nickel-catalyzed transamidation of aliphatic amide derivatives. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Transamidation, or the conversion of one amide to another, is a long-standing challenge in organic synthesis. Although notable progress has been made in the transamidation of primary amides, the transamidation of secondary amides has remained ...

Gauge Invariant Effective Lagrangian for Kaluza-Klein Modes

open access: yes, 2001
We construct a manifestly gauge invariant Lagrangian in 3+1 dimensions for N Kaluza-Klein modes of an SU(m) gauge theory in the bulk. For example, if the bulk is 4+1, the effective theory is \Pi_{i=1}^{N+1} SU(m)_i with N chiral (\bar{m},m) fields ...

Turning Unpredictable Biomolecule Adsorption to Controlled Corona Formation: Focus on Carbon Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the protein corona formation onto carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) enhances their functionalities as platforms for cancer theranostics. Here, we reviewed the effects of the intrinsic and acquired properties of CNMs on protein corona formation, the consequent biological and toxicological outcomes, and the strategies to reshape corona formation ...

Relationship of Dye Adsorption Onto Biomass Activated Carbon Mixed Matrix Ultrafiltration: A Mass Transfer Model Study

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explored dye molecule adsorption from water, focusing on activated carbon in polymer membranes for purifying low‐quality water. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes showed enhanced removal efficiency of methylene blue (MB) from 89.29% to 98.33% with biomass‐activated carbon (BAC).
