Synthesizing polyethersulphone membranes with hybrid iron/nickel nanoparticles for dyes removal: An efficient biogenesis approach

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Industrial wastewater contamination by azo dyes poses a significant environmental challenge. This study reports the green synthesis of bimetallic iron/nickel (Fe/Ni) nanoparticles using moringa leaf extract, which acted as both a reducing and capping agent, and their incorporation into polyethersulphone (PES) membranes to produce eco‐friendly ...

Mechanistic Paths for the Gold(I)‐Catalyzed Heteroannulation of Salicylic Amides With Apolar Alkynes Explored With Density Functional Theory Calculations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A manifold of catalytic reaction paths can operate in the Au(I)‐catalyzed heteroannulation of salicylic amides and alkynes. However, a subtle initial nucleophilic advantage of N versus O and a kinetic bottleneck at an advanced stage of the mechanistic machinery seems to suffice for the reaction to run on a single path and with exquisite selectivity. We

Stereoselective Synthesis of Glycomimetic Amines From Biomass‐Derived Cyrene

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
2,3,4‐Trideoxy‐2‐mannosamines, including the unsubstituted one, are accessible as the only endo diastereoisomers by reductive amination of the green solvent Cyrene, derived from pyrolysis of cellulose containing waste biomass. The products are useful chiral synthetic intermediate to nitrogenated glycomimetics.

Catalytic ester hydroboration promoted by actinide complexes featuring six-membered N-heterocyclic imine ligands and actinide-alkoxides activation

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry
In the last decade, organoactinide complexes have been active catalysts for the hydroboration of carbonyl moieties, including aldehydes, ketones, amides, isocyanides, and carbonates.

Mechanochemical Hydrodeoxygenations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A silver‐catalyzed mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation with triethylsilane as reductant allows to convert ketones to the corresponding methylene derivatives in good yields after a short reaction time. Selected examples show that also alcohols, ethers, and sulfoxides can react. In this work, a mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) was developed. Using

Emerging Trends in Organic Photoreactions Utilizing Disulfides

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Disulfides are versatile, nontoxic alternatives to metal photocatalysts. This review explores their role as photoactivated thiyl‐radical precursors and bifunctional catalysts (HAT/electron shuttling) in diverse transformations. Strategies for electronic tuning and development into recyclable heterogeneous materials are highlighted for sustainable ...

Electrochemically Driven Domino Nucleophilic Addition/Diels–Alder Reaction: From 2‐Aminophenol Derivatives to Bridged Tricyclic Systems

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
This electrochemical methodology allows the preparation of bridged tricyclic scaffolds through a rapid increase in the molecular complexity of simple and readily accessible starting materials. Alcohols proved to be the most efficient nucleophiles, as well as 6‐chloropurine. Plausibly, the process involves an anodic oxidative dearomatization to generate
