Space‐based remote imaging spectroscopy of the Aliso Canyon CH4 superemitter [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
AbstractThe Aliso Canyon gas storage facility near Porter Ranch, California, produced a large accidental CH4 release from October 2015 to February 2016. The Hyperion imaging spectrometer on board the EO‐1 satellite successfully detected this event, achieving the first orbital attribution of CH4 to a single anthropogenic superemitter.

Structural and mutational analysis of Methanosarcina mazei prenylated FMN synthase reveals the basis of its unique prenyl donor substrate specificity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Some prenylated flavin mononucleotide (prFMN) synthases exceptionally prefer dimethylallyl phosphate (DMAP) over dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP), which is a common prenyl donor substrate for many prenyltransferases. Structural and mutagenic analyses of Methanosarcina mazei prFMN synthase, which prefers DMAP but can also accept DMAPP, elucidated its ...

Conformational asymmetry of human immunodeficiency virus‐1 protease flaps increases along the darunavir drug resistance pathway

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Under selective drug pressure, the structure and dynamics of HIV‐1 protease (PR) evolve to confer resistance to the drug. Here, we report on the conformational changes in PR flaps for drug‐resistance mutations using 19F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Germline pathogenic variants in cancer risk genes among patients with thyroid cancer and suspected predisposition

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2022
Purpose Multigene panels allow simultaneous testing of genes involved in cancer predisposition. Thyroid cancer (TCa) is a component tumor of several cancer predisposition syndromes, but the complete landscape of germline variants predisposing to TCa ...

Prevalence of Phelan McDermid Syndrome Estimated To Be ~1:7300 Using a Multisource Model

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Estimating the prevalence of genetic disorders is complicated by many factors including sampling bias and differing methods of estimation. However, establishing the true prevalence of these disorders is critical for understanding disease burden, pharmacoeconomic modeling, and resource allocation for testing and care.

Bridging Therapy Versus Intravenous Thrombolysis Alone in Patients With Medium Vessel Occlusion Stroke: A Single‐Center Cohort Study

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background To compare the outcomes of bridging therapy versus intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) alone in patients with medium vessel occlusion (MeVO). Methods Consecutive MeVO patients between January 2019 and December 2024 were retrospectively included and classified into IVT alone or bridging therapy groups.

Human IDO2 exhibits unique binding affinities distinct to those of human IDO1

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 15, Page 4533-4553, August 2026.
Although indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 2 (IDO2) is highly homologous to IDO1, it displays markedly lower catalytic activity. We found that IDO2 binds L‐tryptophan (L‐Trp) in a flipped orientation stabilized by the IDO2‐specific residue His143. Replacement of His143 with the IDO1‐equivalent tyrosine restored an IDO1‐like binding mode and increased ...

High-Resolution Genomic Profiling of Chromosomal Abnormalities in Human Stem Cells Using the 135 K StemArray

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2012
Culturing stem cells for an extended period of time can lead to acquired chromosomal aberrations. Determining the copy number variant (CNV) profile of stem cell lines is critical since CNVs can have dramatic effects on gene expression and tumorigenic ...
