Ontogeny of the cranial bones of the giant amazon river turtle Podocnemis expansa Schweigger, 1812 (Testudines, Podocnemididae) - doi: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v32i2.5777

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2010
In order to determine the normal stages of formation in the sequence of ossification of the cranium of Podocnemis expansa in its various stages of development, embryos were collected starting on the 18th day of natural incubation and were subjected to ...

A Dual‐Bioresponsive and Programmable Microneedle Matrix as a Bioinspired Coupler for Orchestrating Diabetic Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.

Alizarin and Chrysazin Inhibit Biofilm and Hyphal Formation by Candida albicans

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2017
Candida albicans is one of the most common pathogen causes fungal infections. This opportunistic pathogen can form biofilms comprised of yeast, hyphae and pseudo hyphal elements, and the hyphal form C. albicans considered as probable virulence factor. We

Alizarin Red S staining.

open access: yes, 2019
Osteoblasts grown for 3 weeks on different samples in mineralization medium were stained with Alizarin Red S for biomineralization. Cells on RM-A controls died completely after 3 weeks. Data are presented as mean ± S.E.M. Student's t-test. ***p < 0.001.

N, S Co‐Doped Carbon Quantum Dots‐Riboflavin Composite Photosensitizers for Enhanced Iontophoresis‐Assisted Corneal Cross‐Linking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the use of N, S co‐doped carbon quantum dots (NS‐CQDs) as carriers for riboflavin, creating NS‐CQDs‐RF composite photosensitizers. These composites improve riboflavin absorption, enhance ROS generation efficiency, and preserve corneal epithelium integrity.

Alizarin deposition by corals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The hydroquinone dye, alizarin red S, was employed to visualize sites of calcification in reef corals under controlled laboratory and aquarium conditions using the reef coral Pocillopora damicornis Lamarck and ten other species found in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu,

Self‐Assembling Hybrid Hydrogel Reprograms the Stromal Vascular Fraction to Treat Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioinspired injectable hydrogel that enhances the therapeutic potential of stem cell‐rich stromal vascular fraction for treating osteoarthritis. By reprogramming cell behavior through epigenetic modulation, the hydrogel promotes cartilage regeneration and reduces joint damage in a rat model, offering a promising new approach for ...

A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.
