Stress Corrosion Cracking in Alkaline Solutions

Corrosion, 1951
A discussion is presented of the results of an industry survey on the failure of materials in alkaline solutions. Most of the data have to do with sodium hydroxide. The relationship of temperature and concentration to cause failure can be expressed only in an approximate manner.

Alkaline phosphatase in Drosophila under heat stress

Journal of Insect Physiology, 1996
Abstract The effect of heat stress on the activity of alkaline phosphatase (APh) was studied in two lines of Drosophila virilis contrasting in the stress response of the dopamine (DA) system. It was demonstrated that individuals of line 101, responding to stress by an increase in DA content, respond by a decrease in APh activity under the effect of

Alkaline stress‐induced autophagy is mediated by mTORC1 inactivation

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2011
AbstractThe activation of autophagic pathway by alkaline stress was investigated. Various types of mammalian cells were subjected to alkaline stress by incubation in bicarbonate buffered media in humidified air containing atmospheric 0.04% CO2. The induction of autophagy following alkaline stress was evaluated by assessing the conversion of cytosolic ...

Stress induced phosphate solubilization in bacteria isolated from alkaline soils

FEMS Microbiology Letters, 2000
Phosphate solubilizing bacteria NBRI0603, NBRI2601, NBRI3246 and NBRI4003 were isolated from the rhizosphere of chickpea and alkaline soils. All four strains demonstrated diverse levels of phosphate solubilization activity under in vitro conditions in the presence of various carbon and nitrogen sources. Acid production may have contributed to phosphate

Cooling Treatment Performance Optimization under Alkaline Stressed Conditions

CORROSION 2010, 2010
Abstract Water conservation efforts in industrial water applications have led to increases in water concentration cycles in cooling towers. The increased stress can challenge the chemical treatment program in the areas of corrosion, deposition and microbiological control.

Response to alkaline stress by root canal bacteria in biofilms

International Endodontic Journal, 2007
AbstractAim  To determine whether bacteria isolated from infected root canals survive alkaline shifts better in biofilms than in planktonic cultures.Methodology  Clinical isolates of Enterococcus faecalis, Lactobacillus paracasei, Olsenella uli, Streptococcus anginosus, S. gordonii, S.

osa-MIR393: a salinity- and alkaline stress-related microRNA gene

Molecular Biology Reports, 2010
Salinity and alkalinity are the two main environmental factors that limit rice production. Better understanding of the mechanisms responsible for salinity and alkaline stress tolerance would allow researchers to modify rice to increase its resistance to salinity and alkaline stress.

Exogenous strigolactones enhance tolerance in soybean seedlings in response to alkaline stress.

Physiologia Plantarum : An International Journal for Plant Biology, 2022
The plant hormone strigolactones (SLs) play crucial roles in regulating plant development and adaptations to abiotic stresses. Even though the functional roles of SLs have been identified in response to abiotic stresses, the function and mechanism of SLs
