GsEXPA8 Improves Alkaline Tolerance in Lupinus angustifolius by Modulating Root Architecture, Stress-Responsive Gene Expression, and Rhizosphere Microbiome

open access: yesPlants
Lupinus angustifolius is an important leguminous ornamental species, but its productivity is often compromised by alkaline soil stress. GsEXPA8, an expansin gene identified in wild soybean (Glycine soja), has been implicated in alkali stress tolerance ...

A Novel Modified Petroresin Particle (MPRP) With Enhanced Oil–Water Selectivity for Cold Production in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel oil–water selective conformance control agent, MPRP, is prepared via hydrophilic grafting and mechanical granulation. MPRP uniformly disperses in water, cohesively expands upon aging, and readily dissolves in the oil phase. During conformance control, it selectively aggregates in water channeling pathways to form effective plugs without ...

Graphene Quantum Dot‐Induced Microstrain for Framework Stabilization of High‐Entropy Prussian Blue Analog in High‐Current Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The intrinsic distortion‐rich lattice of HEPBA with GQD‐enabled microstrain engineering establishes a mechanistic route toward high‐performance alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction. HEPBA inherently feature heterogeneous local coordination environments arising from multimetal incorporation, while properly introducing GQD during coprecipitation ...

MdSINA2‐MdNAC104 Module Regulates Apple Alkaline Resistance by Affecting γ‐Aminobutyric Acid Synthesis and Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Soil alkalization is an adverse factor limiting plant growth and yield. As a signaling molecule and secondary metabolite, γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) responds rapidly to alkaline stress and enhances the alkaline resistance of plants.

Mutagenesis Reveals That the OsPPa6 Gene Is Required for Enhancing the Alkaline Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Alkaline stress (AS) is one of the abiotic stressful factors limiting plant’s growth and development. Inorganic pyrophosphatase is usually involved in a variety of biological processes in plant in response to the abiotic stresses.

Tuning Redox Dynamics in Cu‐Based Electrocatalysts: Effect of Secondary Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced analysis of operando X‐ray absorption spectroscopy data reveals that secondary metals affect the redox processes in Cu‐based catalysts for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. This influences the amount of oxides formed under pulsed reaction conditions and the distribution of reaction products.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient
