Structure and Electrochemical Performance of Glasses in the Li2O-B2O3-V2O5-MoO3 System

open access: yesInorganics
Applying the melt quenching method (cooling rate 101–102 K/s), new multicomponent vanadate glasses were synthesized, containing different amounts of MoO3 at the expense of B2O3 with the composition 20Li2O:(30 − x)B2O3:50V2O5:xMoO3, x = 10, 20 mol%.

Characterization of Lithium Thin Film Battery Components Prepared by Direct Current Sputtering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
New electrolyte materials allow the design of flat lithium primary or secondary batteries for miniaturised devices from smart cards to CMOS back up. In this paper, the preparation of LiPON thin film component and an all solid-state thin film batteries ...

Understanding and Addressing the Performance Asymmetry Issue in Semitransparent Laminated Organic Photovoltaic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work addresses the challenge of current–voltage asymmetry in scalable laminated semitransparent organic photovoltaics (OPVs) for indoor applications. Vertical stratification of materials is shown to create an energy barrier, leading to performance differences under different illumination directions.

Capacity loss of non-aqueous Li-Air battery due to insoluble product formation: Approximate solution and experimental validation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we present a study of Lithium (Li)-air battery capacity by accounting for the voltage loss associated with the electrode passivation and transport resistance caused by insoluble product formation.

Effects of Nanoparticle Geometry and Size Distribution on Diffusion Impedance of Battery Electrodes

open access: yes, 2012
The short diffusion lengths in insertion battery nanoparticles render the capacitive behavior of bounded diffusion, which is rarely observable with conventional larger particles, now accessible to impedance measurements. Coupled with improved geometrical

Engineering Active CeO2/Fe3C Interfacial Sites to Generate High‐Charge‐Density Fe for Enhanced Oxygen Reduction Reaction Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A well‐modulated CeO2/Fe3C heterostructure is successfully constructed. The electron redistribution induced by CeO2 not only enhances the formation energy of Fe vacancies and hinders the dissolution of Fe but also reduces the energy barrier of the ORR.

MULTIBAT: Unified workflow for fast electrochemical 3D simulations of lithium-ion cells combining virtual stochastic microstructures, electrochemical degradation models and model order reduction

open access: yes, 2018
We present a simulation workflow for efficient investigations of the interplay between 3D lithium-ion electrode microstructures and electrochemical performance, with emphasis on lithium plating. Our approach addresses several challenges.

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...
