Cognitive Function and Health‐Related Quality of Life in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis: Clinical Evidence From Japan

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Neuroimmunology, Volume 17, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Cognitive impairment is a common symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS) and has a substantial impact on quality of life (QoL). In Japan, cognitive assessment has traditionally lagged behind that in Western countries. With the emerging concept of smoldering‐associated worsening, the importance of longitudinal cognitive monitoring is becoming ...

Device uncertainty propagation in low-ductility RC frames retrofitted with BRBs for seismic risk mitigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Passive control systems, such as buckling-restrained braces (BRBs), have emerged as efficient tools for seismic response control of new and existing structures by imparting strength and stiffness to buildings, while providing additional high and stable ...

Plastic Behavior and Design Methodology for Curved Members in Seismic Applications

open access: yesJAPAN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW, Volume 9, Issue 1, January–December 2026.
This study investigated the plastic behavior of curved members through static analysis and extensive parametric studies, focusing on initial elastic stiffness, plastic strength, slenderness effects, and section compactness. Estimation equations were developed and validated, contributing to the development of a connection design methodology that ...

Numerical Investigation of Seismic Response of Hybrid Buckling Restrained Braced Frames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Conventional buckling restrained braces used in concentrically braced frames are expected to yield in both tension and compression without major degradation of capacity under severe seismic ground motions.

Oroxylum indicum (L.) Bark Ameliorates Anxiety and Depression: Evidence From Experimental and Computational Studies

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
The study evaluated the antioxidant and neuropharmacological effects of Oroxylum indicum bark (MOIB), identifying 20 phytochemicals through GC–MS analysis. MOIB exhibited anxiolytic, sedative, and antidepressant effects in various behavioral tests, with two compounds (CID 550198 and CID 10393) showing strong binding affinities to targeted receptors and

Damage Avoidance Design of Special Truss Girder Frames with Energy Dissipation Devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An innovative detail that facilitates the use of energy dissipating devices, such as Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs), is proposed for Special Truss Moment Frames (STMFs).

Influence of the design objectives on the seismic performance of steel moment resisting frames retrofitted with buckling restrained braces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Buckling restrained braces (BRBs) represent an effective strategy for the seismic retrofit of existing steel moment resisting frames (MRFs), as they contribute to increasing the strength and ductility capacity of the structure.

Time Course of Structural, Functional, Complement Changes and Inflammatory Processes in a Sodium Iodate Rat Model of Geographic Atrophy

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 23, 15 December 2025.
A sodium iodate (NaIO3)‐induced geographic atrophy (GA) model in pigmented rats was established using in vivo and histological analyses. Morphological, ultrastructural changes, complement and inflammatory processes were evaluated at pre‐dose and 3, 7, and 14 days post‐NaIO3 injection.

1,5‐Diisocyanonaphthalene: The Lowest Molecular Weight Fluorescent Probe for the Determination of Trace Amounts of Sulfoxides in Both Organic and Aqueous Media

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 13, 2025.
We present 1,5‐DIN as a low‐cost, efficient fluorescent probe for trace DMSO detection in organic and aqueous media. It shows strong quenching, with LODs from 5–50 ppm, even in complex matrices. Theoretical insights support its mechanism, highlighting its promise for practical applications.

Experimental Seismic Response Assessment of Tall Buildings With Large Mass Damping

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 54, Issue 15, Page 3707-3725, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper describes an experimental investigation into the seismic performance of a novel integrated damping system. The proposed damping concept mobilises a portion of the building's own mass to generate damping from its differential motion relative to the lateral load‐resisting system.
