Effects of long-term cardiatectomy-allatectomy on mitochondrial respiration in the cockroach, Blaberus discoidalis [PDF]
Abstract A biochemical relationship is described between the corpora cardiaca and fat body mitochondria of Blaberus discoidalis Serv. Polarographic measurements reveal that both fat body homogenates and mitochondria from 30-day cardiatectomized-allatectomized males consume oxygen at significantly lower rates than controls.
